The kukri is designed primarily for chopping. The shape varies a great deal from being quite straight to highly curved with angled or smooth spines. There are substantial variations in dimensions and blade thickness depending on intended tasks as well as the region of origin and the smith that produced it. As a general guide the spines vary from 5-10 mm (0.20-0.39 in) at the handle, and can taper to 2 mm (0.079 in) by the point while the blade lengths can vary from 26-38 cm (10-15 in) for general use.[citation needed]
A kukri designed for general purpose is commonly 40-45 cm (16-18 in) in overall length ...

Stoneleigh Militaria Fair Bring Backs
Do you visit Holland? Market Garden 80th ???!
Special one.
That is a nice piece of Steel mate, very useful ..the Greek Kopis grew up. It needs a DPM cover for the scabbard and it will look grand on Your 58 pattern webbing Belt Order.
Nice piece of kit and a very informative video
I WISH we could get the moleskin uniforms here still. Even flecktarn is drying up. I miss my 1989 dated west german parka. I wore that thing ragged all through high school and a few years after. Wow...that was 24 years ago! I also wish i had never sold my ptr91 aka "G3" 😔. It was fun, but not very practical here in the states. Not when virtually 5.56 is/will be everywhere when SHTF. Id love to get a full set of west german moleskin in my size (medium regular) for my collection.
Enjoyed that john....i always wondered what the little spike was for....i had only heard the 'myth' 😊😊😊😊
Just found out your channel. You are doing great work
We love you John!!!! ❤

I can't believe you are not going to taste test!
On the back where the waist belt is, there are webbing loops on either side. Is there a use for them ?
I SEE GREY...OVER 😅
You can use that 44 as a hot water bottle...😮
Rolled up sleeves in the jungle?? No way .

mUrDeR regiment.
Very good history lesson. My dad fought at the battle of Bzura Survived and escaped back to the US
I got mine 20 years ago for 8 pound love it carry lots of equipment in it
That was a fun canter around the paddock.
The bolt think is not true there is no evidence that that ever happened and no documents that is just from a movie

its a late war WWII swivel bale Schleuter shell there should be a heatlot number under the brim followed by an S, This shell was repurposed and repainted for the korean conflict and vietnam war era. You really should try to fix that crack. nice paint job though, keepmmin mind our M1s in WWII were a OD7 green color your using almost a pre-wwii WWI khaky color you would have seen on the old M1917's or MK1 british helmets.
You spent a good deal of time at our display, fair play to you. Pity the interview didn't turn out though.
I was at Capel here in the UK last weekend .. boots that didn’t’t leak and good rain protection garments was the order of the day.
I was National Service with 1RUR from Jan 1960 to Jan 1962 we wore the Black Hackle during this time, the badge was directly over the left eye and not to the side of the head. During this time, the badge changed to a stay bright with the insignia.changed from Quis Separabit to North Irish Brigade, I hope this has been of some help. Rfn W Siner
I see you managed to capture us on video. Nice 👍
Nice research and video sir
Lest we forget 🙏❤️🇬🇧🏴Ulster
👍
I served in N.I. in 1979. We had OG trousers and combat jackets, we also used the original cross weave flack jackets with the 1/4 steel armour plates (back and front) with Velcro to fix them in place, they were very heavy. Only DMS boots, fancy combat boots were a later addition.
Good research john m8....interesting and very sad for all the young men from both sides involved 🤔🤔🤔
One side was wrong
Looks like a good day m8....was that yourself playing the fiddle?😅😊😊😊
😝
I have one of those and if New England ever gets invaded or something that and two M60 pouches that can each hold 2 .308 mags will be what I use to hold my mags for my AR-10 while I fight to defend my homeland. They're cheap, durable, relatively lightweight and effective and that's what's important for a chest rig.
I used to be in the American Army and I always loved MREs. I'd even steal ones I found lying around and stockpile them in my barracks room because I was stationed in the coldest city in Alaska and someone stole my car so I'd welcome a chance to eat an MRE in my room rather than walk 10 minutes when it's -40 degrees outside to get a pretty terrible meal from the dining facility. And at least as of 2022 the American MREs still came with those heaters that you pour water into.
I carry a Smith & Wesson revolver (.44 magnum) with me everywhere I go and I'd go so far as to say they're the best pistols there are
Mini-14s are made in my state (New Hampshire) it's kind of cool to see them being used by people all over the world. I'd rather use a full power self loading rifle like an M14 and if I had to use something in 5.56 an AR-15 would be better but you can definitely fight with a Mini-14.
My dad's regiment, he took part in D Day & he fought alongside Jock Wallace (former Rangers manager) In the jungles
