I grew up right next to the “Turtle Creek Railroad” from 1950-2970, sadly it was more active when I was young, but by the Mid 1960’s it started to DIE. Now it is a “Rail-Trail” just those that were born before 1960 have any real memories of those Trains passing bye, Marlee Acres where I grew up very close to the tracks. 1950-1970

What’s cool is that came from the paper mill in Chillicothe Ohio and I got to take a ride on it before it left. It was involved in an incident and that’s why they took it out of there

Nice video. The Turtle Creek #462 SW1 switcher started on the Johnstown & Stony Creek railroad in Johnstown,Pa which was owned by US Steel in 1982. I remember growing up watching the switchers move coal from the Island Creek Coal Co prep plant and all the products from US Steel to the interchange yard with the Chessie System former B&0 on the S&C Branch. Now operated by CSX.

I remember her on the TCKR as a kid its crazy how they stayed so close. If I recall correctly her former work partner is just across the river also working for Dura Bond Pipe

Is the SW1 462 being put back into the building for storage for the night? How are the coils removed from the train cars, forklift? Is so are they are they moved into the factory at the back of the other buildings (river side) entrances?

Pretty awesome, I see W&LE all the time in the Mon Valley. They pretty much have an all EMD roster. I mainly see them pulling large cuts of tankers with 2 or 3 SD40-2’s

I only heard it slip twice. That engineer had his hands full trying to give it enough power to keep moving without stalling it. It clearly wanted to break but he backed off every time just before it did to keep it moving then got right back into before it could low down. Couldn't imagine trying to start that thing from a dead stop on that ramp. Halfway up the ramp when the middle unit started smoking, you could hear it slip, but he got it recovered pretty quickly. It was probably the middle one that broke causing it smoke up when it over rev'd
