Previous transfer was from the early Encores LP. This is from the 78rpm side which filled out the Mussorgsky pictures at an Exhibition release.

I found a sealed version of this so it may get replaced in a week or two, but for now this as good as I can do with my current record so it'll stay up.

I liked the repressing I was experimenting with so i bought a nice quality original pressing and did my best with it. Enjoy!

I forgot I made this casual bootleg. I am sharing this lower quality recording because i hadn't seen a version of this concert published in the Hamelin live performance channels and it is definitely worth hearing. This was the October 8th or 9th at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall 00:00 - 1. Applause 00:30 - 2. Allegro Ma Non Tanto 17:12 - 3. Intermezzo (Adagio) 28:33 - 4. Finale (Alla Breve) ...

Ooooo yes
Hamelini is so underrated in this concerto!
I love this!
Thanks! I realized I have the 78rpm version too. (This is from Encores LP from early 1950s) I might put that up too.
This is Great!
Thanks! I’ll see if I can get “by the water” as good but disc is rough.

One of those instances where there's one performance of a piece that stands above all others, with the performance enhancing the piece and making it sound like there is no other possible way for it to be played any better, and the music in turn allowing the performer's unique gifts to be seen at their most glorious.
i dont like this piece but this is nice recording and transfer
Gorgeous sound! 👏
❤❤Thank you
Excellent!
wonderful playing by Emil von Sauer very different from today
11:11 cadenza
Thank you
Young Vladimir at his absolutely electrically virtuosic best.
Insane articulation yet light! Man
Dynamic as F too.
Noice
Feel free to cap and repost.
For "noodling", that recovery is really quite excellent. Did you dress the disk with any sort of witch's brew like beeswax and old Mr. Sheen silicone polish blend, play it though slowly to excavate the material before the capture payback? The second playback was usually the best, sometimes the third before the scratches and pitting opened up again, excavated material built up and added noise. I managed a fairly good recovery of Eileen Joyce's performance of this piece from a well-played 78 recording and de-noised in the old Cool Edit Pro but it was not in your league.
I’m not sure I remember. I’ve tried everything under the sun over the years. It’s why transfers quality here varies a lot. This may have been back when I was messing with silicone sprays.
😁🙏🏼
Interestingly, JO once said that there were only 5 piano pieces really worth playing.

It's for the first time I feel tears in my eyes when hearing Star Spangled Banner is played, as a non-American.
Magnificent transfer! 🤗👌🏻🤗
Could you please upload each piece individually ? Or do I have the right to do it myself ?
White House was lucky to hear this!! No admission fees!!
Is this based on generative AI? If the source was NTSC and not PAL it seems impossible to get 1080i from standard interpolation in Blue-Ray upscaling, much less 4K.
I recommend checking out Topaz Video AI. Its very hit or miss but sometimes works wonders.
Masterpiece forever and always
Very impressive performance of the Chopin Piano sonata. Unfortunately the polonaise in Ab had a few hurdles and noticeable mistakes and tense sections. However, it still had his heart in it and he also let the music come first.
HOROWITZ, the best pianist I have seen .
Bravo et merci maestro la perfection absolue❤
I have a small collection of Westminster LP disks, and this is one I have, (WL 5068.)These early, pre-stereo Westminsters can sound very good. The records were very well made for their time, and the performances I've heard are all good, though the musicians were not always as well known as some others in the U.S. The early monaural Westminsters were some of the first disks marketed as "Hi Fi" offerings.
Does he have a transparent plaster on his left hand pinky finger? Or is the camera deceiving me?
Only Horowitz could sit during the national anthem lmao!
un estudio de octavas inicial. Bravisimo
Best interpretation of Ondine in existence.
No words! Great performance! He played Liszt with some demonic power! Bravo Boris!
The Rachmaninoff is my favorite in this program.
Yes we had culture back then! Now mediocrity is king!
I would like to know why did he taped his pinky fingers? I can’t find this answers anywhere.
@@qrstpoiu862 Was a tough season. He was playing a lot of intense repertoire.
whats on his pinky?
What!!!!!????? This magnificent posting was uploaded nearly 4 years ago and no comment on the mindboggling performance, no thanks for the posting?!! This is the end of our civilization.....
Jimmy was so hip that he had to turn very one on to Vlad. How kool was that. He is, to me, a true artist.
Шикарно!
