Thank you Les, love your videos, Funny only last week was looking at a Clement Massier frog to buy, was so cute
Thanks Matthew!
So the original china from China wasn't bone china and wasn't translucent?
It was translucent but made of only feldspar and clay and fired at a very high temperature which made it "glass like" or translucent..
@lespeterkin2516 so anyone really duplicated the original Chinese china product? Also, can you help me with a question. I have a set of Mikasa Classic Gold set labeled as fine china. It's translucent under a more direct light and doesnt ring . So is Miksasa Classic gold soft or hard paste china. Appreciate your help.
@@tonysargent3852 Hi Tony- Yes German Alchemist Johann Botther discovere dthe secret of Chinese Hard Paste Porcelain as I described before as far back as 1708. Mikasa Porcelain , made in Japan is also hard paste porcelain. The soft past porcelains contained bone ash or soap stone ,or other glassy additives.
What a lovely person to gift yiu with such a treasure.

Hey Les! thank you so much for this! we love looking back at our history and to see it documented first hand is wonderful to see. I will reach out to you personally and discuss more of it with you! but again, thank you for sharing
Fantastic . Thanks for recording and sharing today. Hope life’s going well for you now too . All the best 👍🏻
What a great Video. Being a current instructor at OB Ullswater for over 11 years, it is great to pick out the areas that we still use in similar ways. I also used to live in the boat house (which, unfortunately, we no longer own). I had the room that overlooked the lake and Hallin Fell. My canoe lived in the boat house which I would often use to get to Howtown, if I was working over that side of the lake. I wish we still made the canoes/kayaks before we put them on the water. That would be awesome for the young people we work with today. Thank you for making this video and sharing your experiences. It is wonderful to watch and has been shared across the Trust now.
Hi David- so great to see your comment..We must have had the same room in the boat house, and the ravens used to sit on the sill and chat to me!!! Good liuck!
