WARNING TO NEW AND USED CAR BUYERS!!!
this is just a friendly heads up before you consider buying a newer vehicle from GM / Chevrolet .
the rust started aggressively with in 2 months of owning it new off the lot. after the first year and a bit of fighting they said yup its getting bad so they brought my truck in said they sanded everything down and reported with a newer better coating while here I am just a little further down the road and my frame is in worse shape then many many much older vehicles. it is active fraud as they very much know of the issue and by assuring you frame rots over a period of time pushes you back out on your ass as a Buyer again. this is nothing short of a scam and they have had class action lawsuits...

Dodge remote start not working quick fix ( hood sensor bypass) !!

if your dodge has a remote start and it is not working and showing code "remote start aborted hood ajar" this is a quick easy fix. all you will need is electrical tape and a 1k ohm 1w 5% resistor. this is just a quick fix if you want to save money and not replace the whole hood latch. hope this helps someone. if it does leave a like or comment

Pull the red tab until it slides the push the small red nub down on the top with finger or screw driver.

You won't have the wiring. This works in bypassing the switch on the latch.

This worked on a compustar remote start on 2012 Honda civic thank you. Hood latch sensor must have took a dump.
Thanks! Gonna have to give this a try… A whole lot cheaper/easier than replacing the entire hood latch assembly. Friggan annoying as hell they designed it that way, instead of just being able to replace the sensor by itself.
In the case that you have a good warranty, be careful of the company saying its not covered . I have a full bumper to bumper( 2014 ram 2500) and the warranty says that door LATCHES are not covered. The repair facility failed to get the repair paid for by the warranty co. 1st try. I had to call the warranty co. myself and explain that the LATCH was not broken, but the electrical switch attached to the LATCH was malfunctioning. It could get tricky because you can't buy the switch alone. You have to buy the whole LATCH assembly. I called the repair facility back , gave them the claim #, and told them they need to call the warranty co. back and word it properly. It was a new young person handling the repair & claim. She didn't have the tactical experience of dealing with warranty companies.

Perfect fix at nearly no cost. Can’t see spending $80 for a hood latch just because a needless switch failed.
Would this work if I use the two wires going into the switch? The switch is completely busted and only the two wires are left
It worked!!!! I bought my truck used a couple years ago and the remote start never worked. I installed the resistor in the radio store parking lot and it worked instantly. You're the best!!!
I did exactly as you showed..same code on 2013 ram 2500.. Truck started up with the remote ran for 10 seconds then shut off..What did I do wrong?
Nothing you bypasses the hood switch which allowed it to remote start. It shut off after 10 seconds due to another reason like service engine light or code stored in ecu. Low fuel etc. Try clearing engine codes then retry it should work

Does anyone know when this senor wire goes to? My son has Jeep Grand Cherokee and apparently had some front end damage. Long story short, the entiire wire and plug is missing

Not everyone has you money. We’re in a rescission. This is safe to do. So why not ? If you can’t close your hood properly as you need a sensor to tell you so then you shouldn’t be driving a car.it’s a money grab most of these sensors.

Worked, had just bought a new hood latch on Amazon and it still didn’t correct the issue. Pretty sure the sensor is no good. Had some 1k variable resistors lying around so decide to try this and it did the trick. Forget the safety aspect. Who the heck would be hitting the remote start with their extremities in the engine compartment anyways. Bunch of crap

SAME here .. worked for my 2013 Ram 1500 Sport. same deal, had to buy pack of 100 from AMZ for 6$. i just taped up with electrical tape and saved about 70$ on the replacement part!! great video!!

WORKED. 2012 RAM. Had a TIPM bypass installed to correct engine stall, but this somehow interferes with the hood sensor. Ordered the resistors off Amazon for $5 (for 100) they didn’t have a lesser option. Did exactly what the video showed and worked like a charm. Great video and solution!
