I see we have some New Yorkers here. I worked at the Music Inn on 4th St. in the Village 1978, which is where I met Harry.
Wonderful trip thru Harry's youth, thank you!
thanks for this. He was a friend of mine and one of the two biggest influences in my life. The stories I have being with him in his Chelsea Hotel room are amazing to me.
could you tell us some?
Killer book. Extensive research into Harry’s background, the outer reaches of the plural cultures he found himself immersed in early on, and the impact on his historic work that followed. 🙌
Harry was one of the great unsung geniuses of the 20th century. Not just as a multitalented artist and folk archivist, but in his role as a formidable magician and trickster. He used to frequent the occult bookshop I worked at in nyc and his presence invariably brought a mix of excitement, hilarity and incorrigible naughtiness. I feel blessed to have met him. Thnx for this peek into his work and life. Looking forward to your book.
Can't wait to read it.
Super interesting
Super interesting
I met Harry in 1980 when I was 25, and then saw him almost weekly over a 4 year period...we remained friends ever after, I last saw him a few days before he died in the Chelsea hotel in 1991. This is a great trailer for your forthcoming book. Please let the viewers of this video know when it will be available by adding the publication date to your description above. (Please, as I know several people who would want to read this)
