www.elliottdavismusic.com/ The end of my bachelor's recital. Unfortunately, the recording setup was not adjusted for this instrumentation/stage setup, so the quality isn't great. You can barely hear the solo violin in the original file, so I've applied some EQ to isolate it the best I could. Charlie Parker Suite trans./arr. by me (2023) From the following recordings: 1. Wonderful interpretation! That is difficult to pull off. May I ask what shoulder pad you use?

    • @elliottpdavismusic
      @elliottpdavismusic 10 дней назад

      Thank you! It is a rolled-up cloth wrapped in shelf liner. It sits on top/behind my collarbone to create an even surface. So the contact point with the violin is much closer to my neck than any shoulder rest would be - it feels like playing without a shoulder rest but with extra support for the collarbone. Sometimes I secure it with a rubber band but most of the time I just put it under my shirt. In this video it looks like I had it secured at a slightly different angle with a rubber band, nowadays I always align it entirely parallel to my collarbone. My setup is very particular to the shape of my shoulder/collarbone, it probably won't work for many people but it's definetely worth trying. Hope that helps:)

      @@elliottpdavismusic Thank you for such a detailed response! I can visualize what you are talking about. You looked so relaxed despite having a longer neck so I had to ask. I am going to experiment with what you did here. Keep up the great work!

    Ce n'est pas parce que l'on double ou triple les pupitres que l'on fait de la bonne musique; le début du Strauss est pour le moins sans âme et à la limite de la justesse dans les instruments à vent. Y a du boulot pour pouvoir prétendre jouer une des partitions les plus difficiles du grand compositeur!
