Route 66 demo

Route 66 band played a party in January, 2023, and party attendees shared their video clips which I made into a demo which we hope prospective entertainment directors in the Rio Grande Valley will see and want to hire us for dances in their parks. Also for anyone who enjoys good dance music for seniors.

This is to celebrate Calgary's best annual party. Many thanks to Colin and Toni for making all of us musicians welcome. Memories of the fun and music from past years went through my head during the past year so I wrote a song about it and dusted off my studio chops to record it. Thanks to Rey Mora on drums. Thanks to Leigh Holles on harp. I know I didn't have photos for everyone, but you have t...

I forgot I had this in my video library. Two years ago I made an audition video for an agency who promptly lost it. Now that I have rediscovered it I think it stands up fairly well.

Composed in 1982 by Jay Ungar, but you'd swear it's some sort of lament that is 100 years old. Barb and I recently learned it and played it at this Calgary gig.

Barb and I played a Calgary gig and friends were willing to run the camera. Now you can see what we've been doing lately.
Hohner gola 414?
Silvio was my accordion teacher for 10 years when I was a kid, he was rated 3rd best accordion player in the world and competed globally
Silvio and my wife were childhood friends and competitors and both started playing accordion at around 4 or 5 years of age. My wife's maiden name was Barbara Whitman and when she told me all of the stories of friendship and competition with Silvio I was able to find and contact him. They were able to re-connect by telephone a couple of years before my wife died.
Fantastic rendition, awesome it was.Lara's theme,i should say is one of the greatest compositions ever. Many orchestras and individuals have played it, many have sung it,and will continue to do so.This song will live till eternity.
my high-school music teacher! ... a kind-hearted and good man.
Saw Silvio's name and was reminded of the years in our teens when we were competing against each other during our years at Waddington's on John St. in Hamilton. It was obvious that he would go on to greatness and have a future with his accordion. Congratulations Silvio !
Unbelievable! I was a student of Mr. Camilleri in the 1960's in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I had lessons once a week above some pharmacy, I think. It was on the corner of King St. and John St.....again, I think. Didn't Mr. Camilleri play at Carnegie Hall?
that was posted on my wife's e-mail, thus the Judy.
love the tango
Awesome!! you were my music teacher in high school. I brought my accordion in one day.
Hey! what pleasant surprise. I was looking on RUclips to show my grandaughter someone playing a Honer Gola like I used to play. I am one of Silvio's former students and for my grandchildren to hear him play was awsome. Good job "Mr. C"
virtuos!
Thanks. I'm going to check your channel.
Right you are! We learned it through friends who played the song.
Thanks for the kind words, Don.
Sweet . . .mmmmmm . . . I do believe I've heard this as the "musical bed" used in the PBS documentary "the AMERICAN CIVIL WAR." You both did it justice. I wouldn't attempt it. Good for you both.
Sounds good even w/ the camera mic. Keep up the great work the both of you. :) Sincerely, Don & Kelly II and Yami910 (my LAST keyboard).
Barbara & Howard, I truly enjoyed this. :) Never get tired of typing for I'll always enjoy hearing about your playing & travels. Regards, Don
beautiful melody, sounds great!
