Why Picking the Cheapest Quote Could Cost You More

What is the cost compared to conventional joist?
Posi-Joists will cost more initially (a 4.2m posi-joist at 225mm depth will be around £50 compared to £30-£35ish for a solid joist), but the cost savings come once you factor in labour for installation and routing services. Typically you'll find posi-joists work out cheaper in the end unless doing the work yourself and not paying yourself a wage.

I am always surprised at what thin wood the trusses are made in the US. At what distance are they placed? I have "thin" trusses from around 1840 in my house but they are already 10x12cm, modern houses sometimes go up to 16cm in height (correction up to 240mm) depending on the span (while actually getting slightly slimmer to 8cm)
They're in Herefordshire mate
They're placed either 400mm or 600mm apart. Rest assured despite their thin appearance they're pretty strong when combined with bracing.
@@TailorMadeDesigns OK, so in average a bit closer than in Germany, this than makes more sense. Common is 50-100cm in Germany. If it is closer it is more effort for efficient insulating (and more labour intense), so they go with wider distance.
@@marwerno The main reason for the 40cm/60cm spacing in the UK is due to the standard sizes of OSB boards that are available to us-spacing them this way means the boards fit nicely and reduces waste. It's the same story for the insulation that is available to us, but evidently Germany has some different standards! All the best.

Gang nails are ample. Gotta remember they’re tied to one another via purlins, batton for the roof tiles, collar tie braces and strapped to the building too…
Wish every plant had such prime wood ,some of the truss plants have the worst trash grade wood and the trusses end up being trash and failures when they get to the site.
Hmm, doesn't seem very logical putting time into manufacturing a truss that would inevitably fail. Hopefully they'll sort it out.

The joke is that routing through posi-joists is easy but Ben is a bit incompetent (which in reality he isn't). We weren't aware this would cause such confusion haha
