Canton is barely a town at all, more like a hamlet, with less than 350 people. The fourplex as you come into town looks unusual. Place is mighty bleak in winter. Personally live in a place that has no winter or summer as most would know it , basically a long spring that segues into a long fall, things grow all year round.

Yeah, technically it would be considered a Large Town
Underwhelming. Those big, old houses must cost a fortune to heat and cool. There's a town called Freedom, CA, not far from us.

this town was a player back in the day. it had 3 or 4 mills and a railroad and many impressive homes. now it has a u.s. route going through main street.

I drove rom Lethbridge, Alberta to Conrad, Montana to have lunch one day. US customs wanted to know where I was going, in the end he said your just out for a drive.lol.

@Americassmalltowns there's not much to do but I enjoy the country and the small 2a school I go to. You would have to go to Lubbock tk do any fun things tho.

Fun fact. Mt. Carroll was the site of the last buffalo hunt in Il. American Indians would drive them off the rock bluff at the edge of town. Well before the town was a town. There is a historical marker at the spot.

Yeah, There's alot of great small towns out there. Hopefully my Channel can help you find a place to move to
IL. is too restrictive. I am a WY. native, we have oh so much less rules. Also few fences and no rust EVER. I do like the history of the state and old homes.

Those killer Victorian homes, at much cheaper prices than normal, could not be replicated. 100 yrs ago it was a who's who of the area. Only agri jobs now, for the most part.
