Got the gloves, got the heated grips...... gloves are a PITA having to charge and ya lose feel/feedback. Grips, work a treat, variable, always work. I use thin palmed glaoves with bulky back hand for warmth and feel, works a treat. With my new NT1100 they come with grips and hand wind deflectors, one word, amazing. The deflectors make a huge difference. As for heated grip choice, go for the Oxford brand with the control button built into the grip (expensive, but well worth it). This removes the usual bulky control box (the cheaper models have) that needs mounting some where on the bar that is plain old ugly and takes up space. Cheers from another Taranaki rider.

I thought about getting heated grips but went for heated gloves instead. I figured that it's not the palms of your hands that get so cold, it's the outside that's getting hit by the wind.

Looks like a good road to cruise on, got plenty of bends and scenery. A few dodgy patches along the edges there to watch out for. That Is a good camera angle too. Nice to hear that big engine plonking along, not drowned out by wind noise.

at the dip before you climb up the gorge, a girlfriend and I had a very hot day ride just before the 5.10 min mark we decided to take a dip at the rest area, I mean strip off and into the cold water. A tourist coach pulled up as we were in the water, full of Japanese tourist, well that was a laugh, we casually grabbed our gear and put it on, the bus did not stay too long, we passed it on the other side of the Mahoenui Hill. I did a mad ride with a mate back in the 90s, he had a ZZ1100 I had the Yam FJ1200, he said he always wanted to see how fast he could go up the Mahoenui Hill, it was fast, I think we hit around the 230kmh going up and slowed to about 150 at the top, it felt like I could get off and walk. Yes miss my bikes and riding, thanks for a great video, a road I have travelled for many years in trucks,c cars vans and of course motorbikes
