NEK Layout Video #1 - Groveton NH
Просмотров 2,8 тыс.7 лет назад
NEK Layout Video #1 - Groveton NH. A look at the Groveton NH paper mill scene on my Northeast Kingdom HO scale layout as it is in December 2016. Still more detail and scenery to add to the scene, but much better than the bare plywood of just a few months ago. Sound is edited in to enhance the experience. The Kato RS2 is custom painted but does not yet have sound.

Parts of this layout looks familiar. Has sections of this layout been on display at the Spring Creek show in Deshler, Nebraska?
Very impressive modular setup, but I didn't see any trains running!
Hey Mike. This Layout looks amazing. I'm interested in creating a model of Groveton NH Paper Mill in the version of 1950-60s. Do you by any chance know, where I can find some materials that can help me? Thanks!
👏👍☘
Nice recognition to the people who built/designed each section. Thanks for producing.
Nice looking modules. It makes for a very impressive layout!! At the 7:00 mark, your are talking about my favorite - Cheerwine. In the late 1970's I had to bootleg it to Spartanburg because it had not made it that far yet! PS: It is great with rum:}
Nice !
Layout looked great. Hoping I can see weel enough to be part of this layout next year.
1942-1992! Happy Birthday 2 Birdwell Island!
It was nice talking with you at the show Mike. Hope to have my 1st module up and running for next years show
Nice! Not sure if you are from the Kingdom-but I have a camp over in Concord and remember the train running from St J over to Gilman VT unfortunately no longer active but in the morning you could follow the progress of the local as it whistled at the various crossings around the mountain . Last train was around 1994 I think and it’s completely overgrown now .. Also followed the line from Lancaster NH up to Groveton . So your layout is dear to my heart . Still some active switching over on St J and Lancaster still seems active but the tire out the tracks from Whitefield down to Littleton I think
so awesome!
You mentioned that there were modules from the Metro New York Free-Mo group, Do you have any contact information for them? I am looking for a Free-mo club in Metro New York and I cannot find one.
Check out the Metro NY group at groups.io/g/MNYFree-mo
Excellent presentation. This is the best example/application of Free-Mo that I have seen. Thanks for sharing and best wishes for a bright future.
If I ever find my self building modules, it will be Free-Mo. Great looking setup. Inspiring. Thanks for sharing.
Great video Mike so glad I came upon this tonight and the Railroad looks awesome!
Love the video Mike Looking really super! The wide cabs rock nicely put together...
Very nice. Would love to see more of the layout.
Fantastic little ops session, thanks for posting!
Mike, how are the joints made between modules. I'm looking at rails between modules at 12:48 in the video. Thanks!
Glen Frix The Free-mo standard is rails cut back 1 inch from end so that 2 inch pieces of rail can be dropped in and rail joiners slid into place. The ties go right to the edge. Internally within 1 persons module some people use butt joints, and some like mine have slightly different rail lengths to drop in.
Also, what you see at 12:48 is a special end tie plate by BNM Hobbies. Makes for a sturdy and convenient end plate. You still drop rails in, but it goes back to part of the installed rail giving you a point to solder. Search online to see more details.
Are you using soundtraxx surround sound?
Just Trains - No, I have loco equipped sound, but for this video I mixed in real sounds when I edited the video. This loco has no sound yet.
nice video, such a pleasure to see nothern new hampshire again, i used to do some rail fanning from gilead maine to groveton about 15yrs ago when camping in evans notch. used to chase the st lawrence and atlantics through berlin. good job. would love to see more of your layout, mine will never be completed at the rate i am going lol
wow, the layout looks great! love the sound too.
Does the layout include an Island Pond/Brighton section?
No, only GT areas are North Stratford and Groveton, but I don't have any active GT trains. I do static GT interchange at each location to add operational interest,
Nice Video !!
Love it Mike! You definitely need to do more videos. Hint hint!
awesome train video
nice video Mike and great catch of all the train's in your video.
+Mike Troina Thanks! It was a great couple of days with tons of trains. Great area to railfan.

Very nice, I like the new pre and post text images. Also I like the guy appearing on the other side of the track around 1:32. A very nice overview of the whole layout. It has really grown.
The details are great. I never noticed the summer cabins along the Lehigh River and all of the trees, weeds, etc. Thanks Mike for posting.
