    New subscriber here, I’m a 500 elo player, and I did find this educational and enjoyable. I can’t give you any tips but as far as words of encouragement I think your outlook in the review was great, you saw your flaw in the game and worked on thinking of how to improve it. I also like to remember that my opponents are typically at my level so it’s never easy, one mistake and the position can flip on its head, and that’s way more true for your level, when players know how to punish, so give yourself grace. TLDR it happens but you’re doing great

      @@DennisPlayingChess Dude, idk what the heck is wrong with youtubes algorithm deleting my comments, but apparently some chess terminology or something is setting it off and deleting them within seconds after posting. This will be the fourth attempt at responding, holy moly. What I said was, unfortunately no, 1600 isn't the elo wall for casual play. Players around that level still consistently make large blunders and inaccuracies (opponent hung both rooks). The wall is around 1800-2000. The difference between an 1800 player and a 2000+ player is quite literally thousands of hours of study and practice. Once you walk into that threshold of play, you'll begin getting paired up with established FIDE opponents like CMs, FMs, and eventually IMs who have spent years or even decades on this game and less and less of casual opponents.

    • @DennisPlayingChess
      @DennisPlayingChess Месяц назад

      Oh that is very annoying your comments are getting blocked like that. Wow, I appreciate the response. I agree with you about the 1800-2000 range being essentially exponentially harder to break through. Interestingly though, apex chess, I believe went to 2000 from 1700 in less than a year, which is quite impressive.

      @@DennisPlayingChess That is very impressive. Diminishing returns for chess elo skyrockets the farther you go. Same reason why so many IM's have completely accepted the fact that they'll never become GM's due to the absolutely ridiculous time sink, sacrifice and devotion to the game required to reach that level, which honestly becomes more of a talent/ genetic intelligence issue at that echelon. The vast majority of GM's average like 140+ IQs and the super GM's like magnus carlsen are significantly higher than even that. Practice beats talent, but not when talent practices as much as you do.
