Francamente nel conposito eclettismo,e nella sua disponibilità ad interpretare pezzi di stampo più commerciale,non mi sembra si possano invenire molte tracce jazz nello stile di Iris Hond. Pianista versatile,di bella presenza,mi convince semmai molto meno la voce. Lei ed il suo production team sono molto attenti alla sua immagine commerciale, anche nei minimissimi dettagli. Si pensi ad esempio ad una sua abitudine perdurante, adeguatamente provocante e leggermente irritante,studiatisdima e ripetuta diligentemente, l'entrata in scena con i tacchi alti, generalmente le pumps,ma a volte anche gli stivaletti con il tacco. In piedi li/ le tiene, al massimo, 4,5 minuti,poi li scalza. È una scalzista ostinata,costante,o al più va in scarpe da ginnastica. Suona scalza,finisce la performance,ma se ne guarda bene dal rimettersele. Li riprende,li porta in giro con se,ma non li porta,non se li mette. I tacchi alt,i concretamente,lei non li mette,sembrano essere assolutamente estranei alla sua esistenza. Però quelle deliziose scarpette in struggente attesa di un bel piedino che comunque non tornera' a metterle,sono diventate un contrassegno estetico della brava e bella Iris Hond.

What a woman, what a voice, what lyrics. There are a a lot of things I don't like above America. But Iris, Roy Orbison, Bruce Springsteen, etc etc make up for a lot. Also American wagons are awesome.

I've just heard his song "Janie" on a recording of a pirate radio station in London on 11th November 1975. It was Radio Kaleidoscope and the presenter was Mike Baker (alias Barry Martin). It's a beautifully melodic song. I've just discovered that Simon is the younger brother of Pete Townshend.

My God - is there another song out there that is as much of a tearjerker than this?! Not many of them, anyway. Iris is not a household name, but she should be. I remember when I first heard this (for the first time, as it was a newer song then I think?) on "Northern Exposure"...OMG, it was totally blown away. I think the saddest part of it was that Dr. Joel Fleischmann was no longer there. The producers sure picked the right song for it as they scanned through all the characters we'd come to love over the 5 seasons of that show.

The ascending scale at 05:00 is otherworldly. I love how connected her voice is from top to bottom. This woman has full control over her instrument. I don't blame other singers for not wanting to share the stage with her - she's a Vocal Titan. Lol.

I remembered this from that TV show years ago and played it on my laptop of that time. Now I have a new laptop with the most expensive headphones I could afford and man oh man this Ladies voice is unreal. I'm going back and listening to things I like before with my new gear.
