can someone explain how to use Merc Cruiser?

Great explanation. This video got me understanding and playing the game.

The thing about this game is that it's not really that good without the expansions. And you really need to learn all of it at the same time. The base game is kind of boring. Learning all three at the same time is a bear, but worth it.

Just a point of clarity to make it easier for people to follow. Whenever you purchase a ship/base from Trade Row, it immediately goes into your discard pile. Additionally, any cards you don’t use during your turn are discarded as well.

Late to the game but this was brilliant. I read the instruction booklet but seeing it played out was great. Two thumbs up.

You lost me almost immediately, why does player 1 only draw 3 cards and player 2 draws 5?

I have to say, if this game is in somebody's gaming cabinet it's a symptom not a measur of game selection quality.

Hey, got into a fight with a friend about this card. They argue that the card doesn't say: "Special: Before a base scores, *play* *this* *card*, play a minion there" His example is the ninja minion "Shinobi". which reads: "Special: Before a base scores, you may play this minion there..." Therefore, I need to first, play "Hidden Ninja", then, when a base would score, I can then play a minion there. I agree with your interpretation. Thoughts?

Nice explanation but why did you edit out the shuffling part? It wouldn't make the video that much longer but on other hand it would give a more genuine feel of the game. There's no shame in having to shuffle cards.

@9:15 you say you don't have to destroy the Outposts to make a direct attack to authority hp, but the manual says, 'Bases with the Outpost designation protect you and your Bases. If you have an Outpost in play, you may not be attacked or targeted by an opponent until all of your Outposts are destroyed.' and 'If your opponent controls any Bases with the Outpost designation, these must be destroyed before you can attack/target your opponent's non-outpost bases or attack your opponent directly'. Can you clear this up, friend?

Why do you pick up an explorer card at 2:45?

Your can't target base or outpost the same

You can't battle outpost until out post and base on destroy on the same turn

What do you do with the cards you use? He picks them up, but switches to the next player before we see what he does with the point card & attack cards he just used.

so you always play your whole hand?

Can you attack bases after destroying the outpost in the same turn? Or do you have to destroy an outpost first and then in the next turn are allowed to destroy the base? I find I have all my outposts and bases destroyed in the same turn and I can never use the base abilities when it's my turn again

Is it true you may scrap cards at any time during your turn? I know you mentioned this but some cards also give you the ability of scrapping cards. Sounds like that's normally not allowed, only when you have a card in play that gives you the ability to scrap another card.

If your base says draw a card you draw a card... Why you no do so?

Can a card use ally ability and double ally ability in a single turn if requirements are met or just one?

i actually looked up this dude. his name is gordon werner, he's on linkedin. but his posts across the board ie. twitter, board game geek, etc all stop around march 15, 2015... all his links are broken as well. but then i see he might have updated his linkedin as recently as 2019...idk...maybe he just gave up board games.

My favorite 2-player game! Hope you'll also feature expansions too.

Sorry but this video is near useless for a new comer... Speech delivery is too fast. It's hard to see from what pile you are picking up your cards. Rules are not fully (and slowly) explained. I gave up watching midway. Maybe the targeted audiance is already familiar with deckbuilding and I am mistaken therefore ignore my comment.

at 5:18 you say that the players start "with eight Scout cards and one Viper card" but you get two Vipers in your starting deck of ten cads. :)

Great video, thank you! Have you ever played the Frontier version? Is it just the same cards but with added challenges? I just got Frontier and Colony Wars and am worried that I have duplicates of the same game.
