    Thank you for taking the time to do this. Do you have any further thoughts since you e hunted with the WTF gear. How did it fair in the elements, wind, rain, early / late season. I’m also curious as to the fit and finish. Thanks again

      Sorry for the late reply. I am on my second season with it. I am a weekend warrior but I hunt far and hard when I hunt. Everything has held up nice. The parts of the jacket that are thin stretch material have faded a bit compared to the strong fabric that makes up most of the garment. The jacket and pants remind me of my mid season scent lock i have used in the past. Same soft fabric. A bit warm for early season and not going to keep you really warm for long sits in the late season. All and All I have been impressed. Kind of wish it didn’t say WTF because I think people think its a joke rather than an actual product.

    I had the original camo version of the sight. My newest bow has the newer camo version. I've been very accurate with both but with the nose button & a rock solid anchor with one particular thumb release I've become twice as consistent. I really fought with the peep sight thing since I never started with one. I'm 30 years into compound & recurve shooting. Last time I used a peep it was a good one in good lighting but when a deer is very close it restricts the open sight window that the EZV creates. I shot this very slow moving doe & she was just to the right of my camera angle. She took a step forward & towards me moving right to left as i released. I hit her in no man's land & the arrow missed everything. Two days later I watched eating crab apples off a 🌳. She has had twins 2 years in a row. She had gotten a pass for now but since then I shot her mother who was the queen of the forest. I really like your arrows & that long tip u have on the end. I've been shooting about 570 grains with 22 % FOC with my 30" draw. But I'm sure I'm shooting less poundage than u. One thing that really helped me was a quick disconnect which I attached a 1/2" diameter Conquest Archery stab. which is 12" long. I put a weight on the end of it. My bow isn't heavy but that weight is well forward of the bow handle. Another advantage of it is when u lower your bow to the ground that stabilizer acts as a brace & your bow won't lay on its side ever when u lower it to the ground & rest it up against the tree. P.S. What kind of tip or insert is on your arrow?

    I switched to a super heavy arrow setup this year, for testing purposes. Using 250 gr Cutthroats. They fly amazingly, often just as good or better than field point. Dead on @ 20, 30 & 40👍

  • @timbow50
    @timbow50 2 года назад

    Talking about you not being as steady you might try adding a 1/4” to your draw length. Also you are very slightly tipping your nose down to the button. Longer dl will probably fix both things. Plus your draw arm will be farther back where it’s supposed to be. That will allow your back muscles to hold the draw weight. Front stabilizer will usually help with left/right wobble as you hit the back wall( if you aren’t jerking hard) and a back bar is for having the scope bubble ( or the riser) be centered or plumb. Try four ounces on the front and six on the back as I’m sure you’re shooting 70#’s? If your bow won’t do 1/4” dl changes just make the d-loop longer. This won’t effect the trajectory or anything else. Your nose would still be down though but your arm would be farther back.

    Looks like a lot of messing around but like you said, with practice things will be more streamlined. I remember when we first got into cutting trees, all the different pieces...foot asenders, carabiniere decent rigging lol but after I practiced it got to be second nature. Im getting into saddle hunting this season and going with a Cruzr saddle and probably Hawk Helium sticks with 1 aider that I can use from stick to stick, so far that seems to be the quickest way up a tree.

Hunting public land in MI is hard no matter what age or when. He got his first buck last season outside of youth hunt as well.

    hi I have a question when lining up the v on the deer vitals, how does that look? I am looking at getting the EZ V, just not sure what the v lines upon. My thought is from the front side of the front leg to about halfway down the midsection of the deer. but not sure if thinking that is correct. would you be able to show a video on how to place the V on the deer? Thanks Jim

    • @johnsonboysoutdooradventur8119
      @johnsonboysoutdooradventur8119 3 года назад

      Hi Jim. When you get the sight it comes with a paper target with lines on either side of a deer vital cut out. This will allow you to practice and get a feel for how much is in the V. You are supposed to line it up on the back shoulder and back rib and will double lung each time. I have since switched to a heavy arrow setup and would prefer to miss forward than rear of the deer so i have lined up front shoulder and mid rib cage. The best i can explain it is when i first got the sight i really focused on the placement of the V on the shoulder and back rib. As i have shot it more and more i now instinctively know how much deer should be in the V without out much thinking about placement being on the shoulder and last rib. You develop an idea of the vitals and release. I killed my deer last year and have no idea how far he was and was on the ground on my knees and took the shot and he didn’t go maybe 20 - 30 yards and died.

    Seriously, before you give up on your Stepps, try the Cain method. Faster, easier, safer, more secure even without your lineman's rope hassle, no aiders needed, branches don't matter, AND the height of the Stepps is easy. How high can you comfortably set a Stepp? Watch Joe Walling's video on the modified Cain method. And you can hook your carabiner onto the "V" of the Stepp if you so desire. It will self center. Enjoy the woods.

    @21:22 "When it digs in it doesn't want to cam fully." If you position the Stepp correctly with the right tension (Read, "Practice with your equipment") I promise they will "cam correctly". It isn't the Stepp. It IS the operator. The Stepp has no moving parts. If you do YOUR part, it'll work every time. Easy to adjust, as well, to get the correct tension. Thank Jim Stepp. He invented them and came up with the friction knot. And, if you are doing your part, they don't dig in much more, if any, than the teeth on the stand outs on your sticks sliding down the trunk to lock in. IMNSHO. Hunt safely, my Friends.

    I know why you had a problem. You are just getting tired with the second and 3rd shoot. Try to shoot one arrow at the time because every time the 1st arrow was good and 2nd and 3rd was not as good. I have a similar problem every time a shoot 1st arrow it will be bull eye and 2nd and 3rd will be off. So what I do now I shoot one arrow then I go and retrieve. Basically the poundage of the bow is to high for multiple shoots in a row. I also shoot more then I can handle in order to improve . When I shoot 65 pounds I can do 3 arrows on the bulls eye now I set the bow to max 72 and I can only do 1 arrow on the bulls eye always the 1st and the other 2 will be off. Great video really nice and honest .
