My new idea to sell to the US Secret Service
With recent events, and the economy in the dumpster, I've been brainstorming for ideas to sell. I think this one might be a good idea for the US Secret Service. What do you think?

Aguei 120 watt solar panel review

Just a quick review of a pretty good little 120 watt folding solar panel that sells for $259 normally but you can usually get it for $149 when it goes on sale. For the $149 price, you can't beat it. When I tested it, in full sunlight at 1pm, it generated just over 94 watts! A special thanks to AskIveSolar for turning me on to this deal. Think "Resistance is futile." came from Star Trek? Think again. It's from Space 1999 decades before (as well as Dr. Who). It's from the episode "The Dorcons" back in 1977, not from The Borg.

Thank you for sharing. I am building a 6BTV these days, and I like your setup ideas, that’s clean. 73
Well of course that phrase was not invented in the 1990s
ruclips.net/video/9v80fzJYlc0/видео.html&ab_channel=JohnCole Exactly the same thing happens on my antenna
Modeling my Hustler 4BTV after your excellent setup, minus the DXE addons. Made my own radial plate from 1/4 x 8 aluminum plate. Crafted mtg plate for a common mode choke from aluminum angle, u-bolt and 1/4 flat pvc. 12 & 17 meter antennas made from 1/8 x 2 aluminum plate terminating to 1/4 x 2 flat pvc just above the 15 meter trap. I did use the DXE tip-over plate but used u-bolts from the local hardware. Starting with 16, 32 ft, 14 AWG pvc covered stranded copper wire anchored with landscape staples. Curved landscape blocks in a 3 ft circle filled with 1" washed river stone just to keep the weeds down. Glad I saw your video before planning my antenna installation. You have a fantastic and smart looking Hustler vertical set-up. My XYL approves! 73 de WB8PPB, Don in DeWitt, Michigan
I love how he has to whisper the word "Democrat."
Spot on😂🤣👌
🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Woahhh😨
its a very common phrase in sci fi actually....but wow imagine a space 1999 episode where they do encounter the borg ;)
Space:1999 had a great first season. After that it became lame. 😴
How did that happen?
Not a clue. We left the parking lot, road about 30 minutes or so, it was clear, road was good, straight, doing only like 40mph, next thing I know some guy and his ol lady are on the ground and his bike is sliding down the road. I grabbed my medical kit and myself, a nurse and retired nurse checked him out, bandaged their injuries (which weren't too bad, road rash on hands and arm, and a bruised knee).
Nice set up Sir! Always wondered why people are looking for a new amazing antenna. Some of the best ideas were left in the 30’s and 40’s. I was wondering if someone still used terminated end feds. Wanted to try one for listening.

Music to my ears.
Has anyone ever made it sound like it did?
Still get a kick that Landau left Mission Impossible and the best he could do was this POS.
Kind of like Sean Connery leaving James Bond and doing "Zardoz". 😁
@@W9HJBill You are correct sir.
Resistance to our fabulous 70s hairstyles is FUTILE!!!!
Mmm anterior a los Borgs! xD
I like Space 1999 over Star Trek.
The cybermen used it in 1966. Far before space 1999
Actually no. In "The Tomb of the Cybermen" a Cyberman said "To struggle is futile" and "Resistance is Useless". That is not the same. Close, but not the same.
I think that the Cyber men from Doctor Who used it about 9 years earlier. In fact, you can see the Doctor to whom it was directed, Patrick Troughton in the background.
Mini Winter Solar Tip: You can gradually turn down a Beuler and all other hungry electricity consumers with the "5000W dimmer". Ebay €7. I run 5 dimmers in parallel on an 850W inverter. Kettle 2.2KW at 150W runs 12 hours a day, so the water is always hot. The room is also nicely heated. 2.5KW washing machine runs in parallel with dimmed to 200...400W. Iron, dishwasher, oven, electric heater, coffee machine, all internal heating are throttled with me. Videos about it on my channel ruclips.net/video/eC2olbCBhh0/видео.html The inverter stays cool, quiet and the MOSFETs remain intact because extreme current peaks no longer arrive at the inverter. Now every Mini PV Inverter is enough to sell large devices. So, with the dimmer, all internal heaters/devices can be converted into base load devices that stay almost permanently ON, drawing very little current directly from the PV. You can measure this with a wattmeter / energy cost meter.
Space 1999: "Resistance is FEW-til." ST:TNG: "RESISTANCE IS few-TILE." Hear the difference?
hold my beer...
The Cyberman in Doctor Who used it, Baker era I think.
Captain: "Phasers." Scottish guy: "Yes, sir." Another coincidence?
Yeah, but it sounds much more ominous coming from the Borg.
Did they still try to resist, even though it was futile?
"are you satisfied that resistance is futile?" Monsters of Moyen: Chapter 4 (1930)
I found the exact phrase from a book that was published in 1819.
Space 1999 Moon Base Alpha Loved this series, back in the 70s. 🇦🇺🤠👍👍👍
Yes, I watched this when it first aired. Then some years later The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy had a line like that. Lastly Star Trek. There's nothing new in storytelling, either ignorance of the audience, or writing a good mix aids the writer.
DrWhos Darliks loved to say it
So, that's who, and where The Borg originated and evolved from. How do I find this in it's entirely?
😲
Space 1999
Avoiding science fiction? Resistance is futile.
Since S1999 stole pretty much everything from Star Trek for it's second season, I'll just think of this as reparations.
Chocolate sundae topped with cherries to someone on a diet: "RESISTANCE IS FUTILE."
In the 1960s, in Dr Who, the Daleks would taunt their victims with, 'Resistance is useless'.
The Borg might not have been the first but they did it the best.
Doctor Who also used "Resistance is useless!!!"
Sometimes things don't catch on from their original usage because of the way it was said or who said it. It didn't sound ominous or threatening, they didn't appear threatening, so the statement from this show unfortunately is not too memorable. Nice find however.
Also the episode “The Measure of a Man” was very reminiscent of The Outer Limits (1964) episode titled “I, Robot”. In Fact that episode and it’s remake stared Leonard Nemoy.
I, Robot is also a Isaac Asimov story, I don't know that it's the same story but I'm guessing that's where they got the name.
Doctor Who: "Resistance is useless. Drop your weapons" Cybermen from "Tomb of the Cybermen" in 1967.
I loved Space 1999 when i was a kid! Still not sure how an explosion on the far side of the moon can push it away from Earth, but it's 70's sci-fi! I was fascinated by the Eagle spacecrafts.
Theoretically an explosion or impact large enough could cause the moon to leave Earth's gravitational pull. It could also destroy the moon or cause it to impact with the Earth. Any scenario would be devastating for the inhabitants of Earth.
@@osonhouston theyre talking about the fact that that would cause it to move towards earth and not away
I've never seen the show, but I do know a bit about orbital mechanics. I'll try to explain the relevant bits in a way you can visualize. If you're hanging onto the outside of the ISS and you throw a tool down towards earth, you're adding more speed and giving it an elliptical orbit that will take it further from earth at it's highest point. If you throw a tool away from Earth it's losing speed and that will cause it's orbit to decay faster. When considering that same aspect of force, an explosion on the far side of the moon of sufficient strength will increase the rate the moon moves away from us while the close side would bring the orbit closer. Try to visualize turning a circle into in ellipse. When pushing the object toward earth, you're creating a new apogee 90 degrees around the Earth away from the position in orbit and the object will have a higher speed by that point and go much further. When you push the object away from Earth, you're creating a new apogee closer to the point the object was pushed away from which means it's peak speed at perigee will be reduced. That's just considering a spot parallel to it's orbit at the time. If a blast were strong enough to disrupt the moon's orbit significantly (yet somehow not big enough to destroy it), then any force at angle towards or away from it's current orbital path will also affect the speed. If the angle of the blast were on the far side and partially opposite it's orbital path, at it's next apogee it will be significantly further away and gain significantly more speed by it's following perigee. If the force is sufficient, it could break free instead of turning at the apogee or build enough speed to break free after it passes the following perigee.
@@DonCDXX I know. Orbital mechanics is not intuitive like the laws of motion we are used to on the ground. I don't claim to understand it fully. I know throwing a tool towards Earth won't work, just like the many examples of a missle being fired at a planet or a sun [ST: Generations], it really doesn't work that way.
It is actually acknowledged by Dr. Bergman in the episode Black Sun, that the explosion should have killed them all,, and not sent the Moon hurtling if into the void.
Nobody watched Space 1999 Season 2. Compared to the first season it was colorful (the jackets) but jettisoned much of the cast, sets, etc due to a reduced budget. It was just bad. Maya was all it had going for it.
Wasn't that a line from the Daleks in Doctor Who, 'Resistance is Useless'??
Well they must have been assimilated. lol
