This portion of the job shows cracks and blotches, why would you use this as your business calling card
@@mannyvidal4917 where do you see cracks and blotches?
Excellent lesson on sanding sequence! BTW, what kind of mask do you wear and/or recommend? Thanks again for another video!
Great tutorial, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
You're very welcome thanks for watching!
Nice!
Thank you!
Festool
Do one for patching EZ anchors that have been removed. Excellent vids man
@@deanwilson7047 Good idea. Thanks for watching and stay tuned
pre-priming the brown patch is such a clutch tip. Well done. One tip for DIYers: using the taping knife so close to a receptable with no plate like that is risky. VERY easy for the knife to touch the contacts.
Thank you for watching!
What mud do you use for each coat? How Do you get the consistency so perfect?
@VanquishAudio For laying on the tape I use Synko brand, yellow box. And for 1st and final coats I use either Synko green or red boxes. I like how both of them work. As far as consistency, it takes practice and trial and error. But for coating I try to make it somewhat like sour cream, not too thick and not too liquidy. Great questions, thanks for watching!
That is some good mud you use, it really spreads good.
@cowboy-v4d takes time to master a good mix. Thanks for noticing!
@@royalrhinointeriors what country is that? We have different brands here so idk how that translates.. is it premix or quick set?
@@VanquishAudio I'm in Canada. I use premix only. Comes in boxes, and I mix by adding water.
Use a light
Light check was done afterwards
I skimmed a closet in half a day no sanding necessary. If you put the right amount, a lil shaving is all you need. I learned from a true plasterer. I make me laugh how many people think that you have to sand and sand and sand.
@lewisgiles8855 Exactly. The nicer you can mud things then the easier sanding will be. Thanks for watching!
@@royalrhinointeriors good job friend
Do not use pile sander on cornerbee it takes to much off the mail and metal smh
No it doesnt. If you're new and don't know how to sand then it could.
I usually prime and then do touch-ups so that it doesn't screw up the texture of the mud when you sand it. I found that it looks better on the finished wall after paint. But if you're not the person priming/painting it then obviously you can't do that.
@djofulll Yes I agree, I'm usually not the one painting so as a courtesy I'll do certain touchups
Boom and done ✅

No mask?
I always sand in a mask, took it off for the video. Thanks for caring!
No dust mask wooohooo! Gotta love destroying your lungs.
@ShadowVipers I always sand In a mask. Had it off for the video, thanks for watching!
Zelenski?
I don't think zelensky is a taper 😁
Keep up the good work, . !. Your narrative is on point!..I subscribed to your channel..
Thank you brother I appreciate it!
do you have to feather it out that far. or is this for the best possible finish 😂
@THEBOULDER7 you want to feather it out this far so when the wall gets painted you don't see any sort of bump
Very nice spread🙏 you using an 18" flexi?
For the final yes. I use an 18". Not flexi though, just regular.
You should become an instructor and school them how it's done!
@@bigdogpistolp5898 thank you!

Looks clean bro! U make it look so easy
@davidorlev5010 thank you brother
Si tienes práctica lo puedes todo.👍
Nice work! Do you have any tips for a beginner? I’m in the process of beginning to mud an entire 2400 square foot home myself. I have a basic understanding and I’m not terrible at mudding this far. I just don’t like the idea of having to use a 5-6” knife then 8 then 10/12 potentially if I can use a trowel like your using it.
Thanks for watching! It's hard to give tips because I don't know your level. I definitely prefer the trowel over a large knife. I feel like I have more control with the trowel and it's quicker.
@ Honestly that’s fine. I appreciate that regardless. How do you hold the trowel when scraping excess mud on a span wider than your trowel? I couldn’t quite see well in the video, do you sort of float?
@NothingSpecialHereCarryOn ill make a video on that soon, stay tuned
Nice work, love the mud consistency
@@feeblewrk5788 Thank you, I appreciate it!
Literally a huge touchup in the angle I saw at the last second lol.
Yes I still need to mud the 3ways once the angles dry.
Never seen this process done before, why not use mesh tape and apply mud ? Asking because that’s how I see the guys do it lol.
Mesh tape is used when fixing smaller holes or cracks. What I am showing is how to fix peeling paint. Mesh tape isn't needed for this.
Nice floors ;;[;['
@@steveraeburn5459 They will be nice once they get ripped out.
You need to show a finished product, everyone shows doing the putty stuff........ never the finished painted product.
That would be nice, but someone else is doing the painting. I did my job, cleaned up and gone.
The title is skim coating... this isn't a painting tutorial.
I wold do some light send after prime dry
It isn't needed, but it won't hurt.
Thank you very much!
You're very welcome
What is the second thing he applied?
Drywall compound
@@royalrhinointeriors the one that just got mixed with the original wall
@Shuyaxin2 that's just primer
Is it’s same for all wall because some walls are white but they are different type of white?
@Shuyaxin2 what I put on was just a white primer. But I still need to paint it whatever the wall color is later on
There is a specific primer you use on that drywall with a brown paper exposed
You could use that. Or any primer works as well.
@@royalrhinointeriorsThank you! I really wanted to know if there was a specific one. Good to know any primer works 😊
I used Zinnser B-I-N primer and it worked great. The first primer I used did not work at all. I don’t remember what it was.
@LSUTigerMom nice
What brand?
It was like 8 steps and it still looks like someone patched it. How do I make it blend with the wall.
Mudding is an art and takes practice. Each coat should be midded wider then before to make sure it blends in smoothly.
@@royalrhinointeriors I just want to blend it back with the white wall so my landlord don't know I accidently chipped the paint
@mtvisionary you shouldn't need too much mud on it if it's minor
@@royalrhinointeriors but isn't paint still needed. He used no paint
@mtvisionary After you're done mudding and sanded it down smooth, you need to paint it.
Great video. It helps me a lot. Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Thanks a ton Sir... This is the video am searching 😮for❤❤❤ My question is if we paint these spots then there is no uneven surfaces naa? 🙏
The key is to make the patches as smooth as possible, so when you paint it will be perfect. So you will need a few coats of mud, and you need to spread it wider with each coat.
Full tutorial?Sir
@@LoveAman333 yes check out the channel page for Full tutorial
Any recommendations for mud?
I recommend any drywall finishing compound, that way it'll sand easily. I use Synko brand, and typically the red/green box.
What type of primer?
Any water-based latex primer will work great
Why did you add a 2nd coat of mud? It seems like the first was smooth enough already with no hard edges?
I'm picky so I wanted it to look perfect. And it was in the middle of a wall that is highly visible. Some spots I'm sure you could get away with 1 coat.
@@royalrhinointeriorsthank you. Another question, would using Drydex Spackle work just as well as the Joint Compound you used?
I think it could work for smaller patches. But larger patches I recommend joint compound
Why do you paint before applying the filler?
Sometimes when you just fill it onto the brown paper, the paper bubbles and it becomes more work to fix. If you prime it first and then mud it, it wont bubble.
Thanks!
@@ricardoruiz2800 no problem!
That's terrible! No pride in their work.
I know right
Doing a similar project, why do you put primer on first? Can’t you just throw compound on, sand then prime/paint? Thanks in advance!!
Sometimes when you do it that way the brown paper tends to bubble up after mudding it. Not always though. If you prime it first then it will not bubble for sure because it seals the brown paper.
That will just peel off again you should have applied peel stop then prime it
No it wont
It's coming along
It's about half way done, super excited to complete this thing
looks good🔥
