    The fundamental flaw in progressive thinking is the certainty with which they consider any disparity as stemming from discrimination. Thus, they seek to solve these issues by enforcing preferential treatment for minorities. Ironically, while perhaps seeming to ameliorate the problem, this tack actually makes the problem worse, as it cultivates a comfort with such privileges, and an indignant ire against equal treatment, which is seen as further racism.

  • @jeanettebeleadership

    Why transformation? Because we care! We care about SOMETHING! That sums it up for me, and is the reason I do the work I do. Because people care so much about something that they want to transform how and where they are being, that is leading them to being unfulfilled and ineffective. To fulfil your intentions you NEED to be effective. Integrity results in homeostasis. Every time I listen to Ashkan I deepen my language of this ontological approach to transformation. Thanks so much Brendan for bringing this conversation into your podcast.

    Company culture is great but often times the people trying to manufacture a company culture don’t know the first thing about culture. You can’t make people participate in culture. You have to listen to the needs of the community and adopt and remove as you go. To me this sounds rather like company policies the way they talk

    • @CultureofLeadership
      @CultureofLeadership Год назад

      Thanks for sharing. The words that come to mind are “Weak cultures rise out of neglect. Strong cultures rise out of deliberate intent.” A high percentage of people with a leadership responsibility in an organisation don’t know how to be deliberate about creating a culture they are proud of. Because of this, they neglect it and it always becomes an environment they are unhappy with. On the simplest level, be clear on the behaviours you value and live, then have conversations regularly to reinforce these (catch people doing the right thing) and address behaviour that’s not aligned. When it comes to any form of ‘human process’ in a business the values have to be built into them. For example, how we recruit, manage performance, etc. Hope this helps and thank you for sharing your thoughts. 👍👏👏

    Not cool around 42:00 throwing biased stereotypes that youngies are „useless” at excel. Here in the EU excel is in ICT class for 4 yrs along with python and sql in high school. Odd example of hiring crime „We’re all women here, a man wouldn’t cut it” - when statistics show that this the perpetrators of gender based discrimination today are male not female. Weird choice of example when it’s the women (especially older ones) who are subjected to hiring discrimination.

I’ve always equated enthusiasm with an extrovert personality type but from hearing Donna speak on this I feel enthusiasm is more perhaps an attitude about enjoying the journey, bringing others along with you, caring for yourself as a leader and caring for those you lead. Isaiah 58:5-11 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for people to humble themselves? Is it only for bowing one’s head like a reed and for lying in sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord? “Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you, and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. 🙌🏽

    Ageism remains largely invisible despite its wide reach and negative impact on individuals and society. However, it can be combated: policies and laws, educational activities and intergenerational interventions have all been proven to work to reduce ageism. To create a world for all ages, stakeholders across countries, sectors and disciplines must invest in these three strategies, support further research and data collection in this area and join the global movement to change negative narratives around age and ageing.
