Hello there guys,
Scotty says cars are money pits🤣. Yes they are money pits if you don't fix them yourself. In this channel we see how we can cut costs by fixing cars ourselves.
If I can do it, trust me, you can definitely do it. Research and always ask a professional to help if you fail.
Please, guys, be careful when working under the car! It is the only thing that risks a serious injury or even death.
Peace ✌

3 Annoying Things On Kia e-niro
3 absolutely annoying things with the Kia E-niro!
1. The seat belts get entangled and make noise!
2. The door rubber seals keep falling off!
3. Endless chimes!
Other than these, everything seems to be holding up well. If I find another annoying thing, I will let you know.

Kia e-niro transaxle oil change
Просмотров 271Месяц назад
The kia e-niro is at 72,000 miles now. I have done less than 500 miles after a brand new gearbox/transaxel was installed. So I thought it would be a good idea to check if the oil contamination is taking place. To my horror, something is contaminating the oil again! To keep an eye on this, I have installed a magnetic oil plug, and I will change the oil every 5,000 miles. The next oil change will...

I took the car to kia on the 16th of July as agreed, but they only fixed the rear view camera. They didn't fix or replace the transaxle. But they couldn't do the job because the bracket that holds the motor is unavailable at the moment. Lots of Kia e-niro from 2019 to 2021 are having...

@normanstephens5391 Hi, got it. Jubilee clip. Thank you mate 👍
Hi there. Following this with interest. I also changed my Eniro oil at only 13k Miles from new. It was black as pitch. Even after standing old oil still in washing up bottle for weeks, it doesn’t settle out at all. Nor does it attract much to a very strong magnet taped to the bottle. I believe the black contamination is aluminium! BTW regarding your conspiracy theory about dealer refusing to fit magnetic drain plug. I believe it is not that they want it to fail (as you suggest). It is simply dealership standard protocol. They are simply not allowed to install any non original make components (even if the replacement component is obviously superior!). This is standard policy with all main dealerships of all makes. I can understand that policy, as it could cause numerous problems with warranty and reliability. I look forward to your next oil change report and if it is any less black this time. Thanks for your interesting videos!
@ThePrawlin 🤣🤣you made me laugh with the conspiracy theory idea. It's just me ranting when things go wrong. Maybe regular oil change may clean up the aluminum. We will see as time goes on.

You are very lucky that you have such a great car and the e-Niro only has 3 small items that annoy you. Many other cars have much more serious flaws. Our 4+ Heated Steering wheel is brilliant warms my hand up great. It will be great to see the colour of the old Reduction Gear Oil when you next replace it.
Yes I love the kia e-niro, it saves me alot of money on fuel! Brilliant car and as I said on the video, these faults are minor and they don't stop the car from working. Next service, oil change, the beginning of November.
Hi h r you, thanks for your videos I have same issues I think all of them, I recently started charging issue on %80 while it get charged at %80 it stops and says Communications problem.. it doesn't go even 81% I used to charge it %100, do you know what could be the issue some time it says Battry management system malfunction. Thanks
I bought a car with the same problem with the window. Not knowing it had been used as a taxi before. I learnt that the back doors were used much more than the front each day, and the wiring to the loom had become brittle ( from the door to the post) , because of constant bending. I looked and indeed it had fractured and open circuit. Let's hope it's the switch in your case?
@davidbrookes8470 I will get it checked. I think it is a low quality switch because it's been a taxi for just 4 months. Also, it has been sitting on my driveway for 6 weeks waiting for the reduction gearbox and traction motor to be replaced. These cars are very expensive to manufacture, so cutting corners is more likely.
I would strongly advise to continue with the Kia dealership servicing as per the schedule. Otherwise you risk voiding the 7y warranty. Especially so as you appear to do high miles. That new transmission already sounds rather dodgy to me. My 2020 Eniro doesn’t sound like that, but I’m only on 14k miles. How did you record the sound? Was it inside the cab OR under the hood? You saying you can replace the bearings… are you sure? It’s a big engine out job not easy DIY IMHO. Also, the actual motor bearings can fail not just the gearbox bearings! Changing oil regularly does nothing for the motor bearings. How many miles did you do since the new motor/gearbox was fitted?
@@ThePrawlin I put the microphone under the hood to record the sound. Replacing the bearings on both the traction motor and gearbox wouldn't be too hard for me. First oil change was done approximately 1000 miles after getting a new gearbox. The bearings on the motor don't get lubricated buy oil. There is a special grease for them. I will follow your advice to keep it serviced at Kia.

@CharlesLawry hi, everything worked well and I sold the car at ~210,000 miles still going with the second turbo
The old turbo did ~157,000 miles. The turbo didn't look broken at all.
If you have a stop start system, Halfords want £250. But if you get a £60 battery (Type 115 From ebay) it just means the stop start function will be disabled after a little while. When I got my car it was 3 years old. They only time stop start only ever worked after a long run. It is annoying in traffic anyway. The voltage has to be spot on for it to work. My car worked fine without stop start for 6 years.
@markenetube me too I don't like the stop/start idea. A good cheaper battery is ok and they last over 5 years.

When I did a google search of why non automatic gearbox oil/trans axle oil may become dirty I found this explanation: dark oil shows up in diff fluid that has run a long time is oxidation, of the parts with iron in them

Did the old oil SMELL different from the NEW oil? For example did it smell burnt?
@richardhaywoodh I didn't check the smell. You know, that's a very good idea. I will check the smell next time.
My old black Eniro oil had no aroma that I could detect. I do not believe it is an oil heating issue. Folks that have had the old black oil analysed, have identified high aluminium and iron content, apparently.
As you say after 500 miles why is oil not still clear, what is wearing to make the oil dirty?
@richardhaywoodh I think, is the magnet. Funny enough, when replaced the driveshafts oil seals on my citroen c4 1.6hdi, the brown one, I put back the oil from the gearbox because it was still clean.
Have you got a link to the plastic syringe bottle you used to fill it with oil please? Is it a 1.5 litre version?

@@fix-and-drive-diy-repairshave you got a link to it on eBay? And what was it called eg '1 litre plastic syringe ' ?

@@richardhaywoodh very strange because they have the same battery and traction motor!
Update. I see your car does have the expensive special low conductivity blue coolant. Be prepared for the service when they change it to cost hundreds! Maybe £350? Just saying.
@@ThePrawlin If they change it every 3 years, I don't mind too much. Thank you again.
If your Eniro has the special mega expensive blue coolant, it has to be changed every 3 years! It costs £25 per bottle (2 litres) and holds 13 litres! They also change the brake fluid every 2 years. Crazy but true. Yet they never change the gearbox oil, and that goes black very fast! I recommend you change the gearbox oil at regular intervals, even though it’s not a part of the listed service items. I suggest you do have it serviced and maintain the all important warranty. That motor/gears bearing fault can easily happen again within next 30k miles! If you exit the warranty you might regret it. You actually did very well to get it fixed so quickly! There are plenty reports of others having to wait months with car at the workshop waiting for parts from S. Korea. You did well. Good luck.Peter PS it’s not impossible for the battery to develop a fault, though generally on the Eniro, the SKI battery seems to last well. Be prepared for significantly worse efficiency during the cold winter. Your 5m/kWh could drop as low as 3m/kWh. I see you don’t have the heat pump, so heater will consume a bit more.
