    What if there is no fuse in the head unit of trolling motor?

    • @bellman3d
      @bellman3d 21 день назад

      The fuse is just one of many possibilities for the interference. I made that video because many people did not know there was a fuse there. Do I assume that grounding is not an issue?

    Great video! Loved the crash course! I plan on picking up the hobby this winter and have been looking at various do it molds and heating pots. Definitely will get a pot like yours but I have been having a hard time finding do it molds with 1 single size hook slots that has multiple cavities. It seems they mainly make them with multiple sizes per mold. Anyway, any advise on the molds I'm looking for i.e. 1/16 with 6 cavities and any advise for a person new to the hobby before I got buying a bunch of stuff including hooks lol

      Make sure the bottom pouring melting pot has an adjustable temperature. I bought all my molds at least 20 years ago when it was easier to find what I was looking for. You might try looking for some used molds

      My first few molds had several different weight cavities in them. Purchase the mold that has the cavity size that you most like to use. Also; get a heat adjustable bottom pouring lead pot.

    The device is not in the water. Trying to test the sonar with out the boat being in the water, the interference will almost blank the screen out instead of showing a small spike. In the water it has no interference. This is just one of the many steps to removing interference on a sonar. The majority of the problems are caused by a lack of grounding.

Is this same interference ir possibly associated interference you experienced from the blown 3 amp fuse???? Or is this something different??? I Have not ckd the powerhead 3 Amp fuse yet… any input! Thanking you in advance from deep South Louisiana Bayou country

    I specialize in ultralight rods so surf rods would be out of my area of expertise. I use mostly Fuji guides. All of my stock came from when Merrick tackle was still in business but there are several other suppliers out there. I actually still have a lot of stock left over from Merrick. I even still have som GLoomis and St Croix blanks 😁

    • @bellman3d

      The main power wire going down the shaft to the motor had a bare spot on it and it was shorting against the armature when the motor was running.

      The 3/16 jig will hold a #1 hook and the 1/8 oz jig will hold a #2 hook. Both will fit in a Midsouth tackle 1.75” tube.

    Have you considered sickle hooks? Just curious.

    • @bellman3d
      @bellman3d 4 года назад

      I also make sickle hooks. Different style hooks work better at different times. Certain times of the year they toss their head about successfully throwing the hooks. During those times I use a standard 575 hook because of the more prominent barb. Other times it seems it is harder to get a good hook set meaning missing bites is much more prevalent. During those times I use a sickle hook.

      Enjoying your videos. Do you usually use gold jig hooks? Where do you order from ? I’m in southern MO and have used small slab type spoons (silver , white or chartreuse) but haven’t ever had much success. Much of our water is pretty clear . Truman is darker . Have never used ice spoons like you make. Thanks again.

    There was a wiring problem with the power wire coming up the trolling motor shaft. Once the problem was resolved I stopped blowing the fuse. If the fuse blows more than once there is an underling problem somewhere other than the fuse. I didn't find the problem until after I made the fuse video.

  • @michaelwhaley5797
    @michaelwhaley5797 4 года назад

    The fuse is in a brown wire which is a ground wire per Minnkota wiring schematic. Pretty much explains why those adding an external ground wire got the same result. The deal is finding the ROOT CAUSE of the problem. What causes the fuse to blow??? Dave found his and corrected it. Make sure you find and correct yours, which may well not be the same as Dave's. Or the problem WILL return. Just sayin'.
