There's nothing quite as tasty as a fresh mango and I'm blessed to have what I believe is the greatest mango tree on the planet right in my back yard. Yum!

Makapuu special: empty parking lot!
Просмотров 18413 лет назад
Now this I've never seen: it's a huge surf day at Makapuu and my car is the only one in the parking lot. There was only one other guy in the water (which I didn't know when I recorded this).
Big day at Makapuu

You just can't beat Makapuu beach . It's one of the best free things to do on Oahu and today is a rare day where we have a north swell (i.e. big) wrapping around combined with a rare offshore winds day.

This has become a very popular thing to do on Oahu for free and for good reason. The Makapuu Lighthouse Hike is easy to do, great for the whole family, and gives you breathtaking mountain and ocean views. It's a must-do
Big Surf at Makapuu

This was a rare day when north swells wrap to Makapuu and combine with a rare off-shore wind. This double-rare condition only occurs a few days in the year, if that, and I was luck to be surfing in it! I can't think of a better sport to do on Oahu for free!

Halona Cove Beach: The From Here to Eternity Beach
How deep is this? Just asking because I can't swim.
I also was married on this beach! Paradise!
growing up, Dad took me to Makapuu all the time (late 70's early 80's) , and other family members too. as a kid the walk downthe hill to wherever we chose to hang, but especially the walk back uphill seemed agonizing. Deep sand no shade. But yeah, if you're there, youre committed. It IS dangerous! Nearly all the time. for kids certainly. We went there or to Sandy's to get out of Kailua.

lol, you were psyching on that wave. I think it's cool how you scored rare east side offshores. you scored brah.
would love to go back there. It was a great swim.
I hiked up that whole mountain
Makapuu Point is my most favorite beach in the entire World. I have body surfed this beach all through my intermediate and high school years. I liked the big "BLACK BALL" sign like you see on the ski slopes right in front of the beach that said "OFF LIMITS TO ALL MILITARY PERSONNEL - DANGEROUS WATERS" under penalty of court martial. The waves here are thick and can get quite large and powerful. The riptide can also be very strong, easily sucking one out to sea.
Saw the beach scene from "Here to Eternity" when I was a kid in England when it first came out.....early fifties. Visited the beach 2 years ago ....wonderful experience....still cannot believe I was actually there!
It's an amazing place...probably one of the most dramatic beaches on earth.
I got married on this Beach, Could not imagine getting married anywhere else in the world. Will be back soon...
Please carry out your trash if you go here. It is littered with bottles, cans, rubbish!
omg this is so pretty I wanna go so bad
Fuckin small
BEAUTIFUL BEACH. GOT MARRIED HERE. AWESOME PLACE.
called Allan Davis
Allan Davis!!!
I loved this beach, had to agree to go shopping with the wife once a week in order to get my beach pass. Ther'e nothing better than making a big roostertail and actually looking down at the people on the beach, when the waves were breaking far enough out (but not the way out giants) you could get some long rides. It's been almost 40 years and it looks exactly the same.
I couldn't spend enough time at this beach. One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. And each time I was there a honu came to hang out with us :)
Honu = a turtle; Oh cool !
go back to da mainland kook!
My names Saundra, and this is freaking me out.
nice vid, very informative!
its called AnDs or Alls and Daves
Dam i miss my beach!!!!.....Virginia sucks!!!!!
THATs only 1 feet
@berto0069 glad you liked it! I love this place.
Aloha: Mahalo a nui loa for the great vid. Extremely informative and descriptive in all narration. Kailua was the spot for me and my 7 year old though. It was gentle enough for him to learn how to boogeyboard Hoping to get him to Makapuu at one point. Unfortunately, we left before his "pro form" was fully developed. We did spend one day at Makapuu just watching and the danger level, you are correct, was multiplied. Unfortunately, I now am singing "Waiminalo blues" and "Honolulu City Lights"....
soo sad
