A complete athlete is someone who make the difference based on his athleticism, he can jump high , have crazy power , a run real quick. So most of the time his focus is on one aspect of the game where he is the most productive . Ronaldo only focus is on scoring. What baffles me the most is that even though everybody granted him to be a absolute athlete, he dives a lot 😂 , always avoid real physical contact, that’s weird to me . I have to commend my driving instructor for introducing me to Messi. before Messi, I was a CR7 fan due to my allegiance to Portugal in the Euros. I still remember having a conversation with my DI that I was saying that CR7 is the best, then he immediately refuted it's Messi. unaware of Messi and asking myself who is this Messi guy and I started doing a lot of research. before my research even finished, I said to myself, boy this Messi guy is "out of this world". I can only say at the end of the day, CR7 is the best human player in the world in terms of statistical achievements only because I couldn't quantify Messi's achievements as humanly possible. If you slow down to 0.25 speed, you will notice that he is feinting every possible decision available to him. As an example, if he has a simple pass to his left, a through ball to an overlapping full back, a pass to the striker making a run and there's a gap to dribble into, he keeps shifting his body to one of the options. As soon as the defence commit to stop one of them, he does another. For almost everyone else playing football, this is nearly impossible to do without falling over or committing to an option early enough for defenders to get a read. This is why the vast majority of actions that footballers take on the pitch are very simple passes or a dribble 5-10m before passing. For normal people, we commit to the act of dribbling, passing or shooting. It seems like he never commits to any and the defenders struggle to read his movements. Defender moves to block the shot? He slips it through for the left back. Block the pass and he shoots. Follow the strikers run and he runs through the middle of the defence. It's artistry.
