Reprap Prusa i3 All acrylic 3D printer time lapse build. Kit from China
Просмотров 11 тыс.9 лет назад
A time lapse of me building an all acrylic prusa i3 rework 3D printer that I got from China. The build time was about 8 hours in all. There were a couple of hours after I stopped recording of testing and tidying up all the cables etc. At about 3:00 there is a black screen and the video jumps a bit. The software stopped recording and I missed a couple of minutes of finishing the spool stand. Aft...
40w K40 Chinese Laser cutter/engraver from eBay - unboxing and testing

All my replies to the comments have vanished for some reason, feel free to ask them again if you want any questions answered again No longer available at that bargain price, its about £340 now I have had the plan to make some videos of what I have been up to with this laser but just finding the time is difficult. I will get there one day! I finally got myself a laser cutter, even if it is the c...
omg great video ! I decided to pull out my old HT-BE1 to see if it worked but it wouldnt even light up. Great video, the disassembly and explaination helped a lot !
Thanks so much! Glad this helped you save this old but still pretty decent amp from the electronics graveyard!
very interesting video, your knowledge is amazing!
Thank you for the kind words, I am glad you enjoyed it.
hi matt is it worth buying as a beginner
Hi, That's a tough one. I was a laser beginner when I got it but I am quite techy, build stuff, 3D print etc. If that's you too, I think you will be fine. If not it is quite a steep learning curve. These things are cheap for a reason, saying that they are still a bargain and with some tinkering and a few extra $$ you can have a pretty decent machine.
NO
What is the hscode?
Hello. I bought the same engraver but it was no CD. Can you please share the software from your CD?
Hello, Sorry I no longer have the CD. I replaced the electronics with an Arduino based system so no longer needed it.
its on the net Correl laser
Since I can’t seem to find a single thing about this issue I’ll ask here. The first test fire I did on my machine it engraved properly. But NOW it won’t at all. It cuts just fine, but when I select engrave my laser just burns a line from left to right. Not at all the same motion it did on first fire up. Help..??
I have since changed my controller board so can only offer limited help. I do remember having a similar problem. Try engraving something very simple at a very slow speed and see if it works then. Mine was due to trying to send to much data via USB too fast, and it couldnt handle it. I have since started using a memory card with an Arduino controller as the Chinese original just drove me mad. Hope that gets you somewhere. Feel free to ask anything else if still cant get anywhere.

My computer doesn't recognize the machine.. I've searched for the drivers and couldn't find them... Can out help me?
Does the machine show up in device manager when you plug in the USB cable? Might be listed as an unknown device. If it is there, click on it and do drive update and point it at the CD that came with the laser. If nothing happens at all when you plug it in and nothing shows up in the device manager, it is not a driver problem and probably a hardware one. Try a different USB cable, different computer, if that doesn't work the board in the laser might be dead. (which I have read about a few times). Good luck!
my window is a clear glass though, I am curious why they made it this way and whether it is safe. They also used even cheaper crap components on my machine. And no conformity certificate on a tube :(
Clear acrylic will still block the laser wavelengths passing through it so it is safe to use. Tinted windows just dull the brightness a bit as well. All I can suggest is to check the wiring is sound and secure, especially the grounding. For example they had painted the case before attaching the chassis ground so it wasn't making good contact. Had to scrape the paint off the reattach the ground. Also check the thick wire on the right (from the front of the laser) of the laser tube is secure and covered in plenty of silicone.
Matt Cox thanks a lot. My window is not acrylic, it’s an actual glass. And I can’t help anxiety when looking there, feels unsafe, since glass is so clear. As for the ground, I haven’t connected a separate ground, my house has proper socket ground, I know that, so I rely on that.
Really? That is very strange. Glass will still be safe to use, it will filter out the CO2 laser wavelength. Good to hear that your home has proper grounding. You do not need a separate ground as you say, It is worth checking the wires in the machine to make sure they are all secure.
go buy you laser from a great Amerikan company you will find the same parts in a repainted box ...cut the crap are you an QA engineer on laser parts or exactly what is your degree in .and like I said go buy you machine from an american....company for 225 times as much. you have got a machine that works now make it work and make money for you.
Nice video. I really wanna buy one. How is it to engrave in leather, have you tried? Can't find a video when someone use it with leather.
ruclips.net/video/bDsauWz6-0E/видео.html This guy seems to have good results. These laser have plenty of power for that job. Probably only need about 10%
Hi, What max thickness of ply wood it can cut in one pass, Thanks
I would say about 5-6 mm if you add an air assist nozzle. I get better results by doing 2 faster passes than one really slow one though. If speed is important then you might be disappointed.
How much price this machine
Hi Matt, just bought the same Laser but have big Problems to geht it running. Switching on the Laser the Head moves to starting position but keeps mooving and vibrating continously. Any ideal what could be the Problem? Also the Computer does not find the machine when connecting the usb cable. Thanks for your Feedback :-)
Hi Chris. When you say starting position, is that top left? It is worth checking all the cables and installed correctly and the ribbon cables are all in properly. The wiring on mine was a bit dodgy to start with. Secondly check that when at the top left, the end stops are being engaged. They rely on a bit of metal aligning in to a slot in the end stop to work properly. My machine grinds the axis top left if they are not engaging correctly. The drivers are a bit dodgy, have a look at what board is in your machine and google it, there are drivers available online. I have replaced mine with a RAMPS setup now, highly recommended.

hello Matt could you send tu mi email lordosisla@gmail.com drivers y software for this machine many thanks
thanks for the video, I liked it
hi thanks for getting bk to me so am i right in saying i dnt to ground it with a rod in the ground thanks
It will be fine if you use a normal UK plug. That is on the assumption that whatever socket you plug it in is wired correctly with decent ground.
hi iv just got the same k40 but im unsure about the the 2 pin plug u get with it.can i use a standed 3 pin uk plug for it and will i need to ground it or any thing els thanks
Yeah standard 3 pin with the earth pin going to the chassis. There is a terminal in the electronics compartment for it, think it is one of the screws for the feet. Check that it makes a good contact, really important! They had painted my chassis before doing the earth connector so it wasn't actually touching bare metal! I would check it with a meter from the earth pin on the plug to a couple of bits of exposed metal on the chassis to make sure its ok.
you may need an adapter you may have a us plug.
can you show me how to set the pump up please, it doesnt say in the manual
Are there two hoses attached to the laser tube? All you need to do is connect one end to the pump and your ready to go.
thank you do i have to put water in some where too?
Yes, in your ass. Don't buy such equipment if you are so dumb.
please pack the machine up and resell it on ebay as you do not know what you are doing and you can get hurt (blind) real fast or worst you will burn your home down.
Can you create memorials and engrave pictures on stone?
it could seem that it was mailed from within the UK or EU for the matter of fact. But chinese vendors buy postage from european transport companies to save more money. Thats also why theres sometimes yellow stickers, on packages ordered from outside the eu.
Just launched a Kickstarter for a K40 Upgrade www.kickstarter.com/projects/.../gerbil-the-open-upgrade-for-your-k40-laser
cant seem to find it
can it cut mobile screen temper glass...??
Nope, not even sure it is possible with high power CO2 lasers as glass just absorbs the radiation.
please confirm me sir..
as far as I know, the common laser can't cut laser, unless you use uv laser
Amy Lee k sir please recommend me to buy for that type of temper glass cutting machine..
+K Technology OK, could you wahtsapp+8618520125617 I'd like to recommend very much
is there a place where you can get Plans, or a CD of already made up Plans for the Precise 40W CO2 USB Laser Engraving Cutting Machine Engraver Wood Cutter, I am New and Just ordered the Machine, and delivery is on or before 3 July 2017
Not really sure what you are asking for? What kind of plans do you mean?
I really hope you have experience with a laser if not get some help before you open the box.
Quick question, I have the same exact machine that I bought recently but it's not working. When I switch it on, I don't get any laser movement or current reading. Any idea why? thanks
Does the laser test fire? Does the cooling fan at the back do anything when you turn it on? Check the little fuse in the holder in the back of the machine. Also check the wiring is all secure. Heard of several cases of wires being loose on theses lasers.
You can cut paper without burning on the edges?
Yes it is possible but not completely uncoloured like die cut paper. its only possible by adding an air assist to the machine. That along with high speed and very low laser settings you can get nice cuts with little discolouring. It is not possible to cut a stack of paper though, just a few sheets at a time.
HI MATT, STILL CAN NOT GET MY SYSTEM RUNNING. EVERY TIME I TRY I GET SOFT KEY MISSING. ALSO I NOTICE I DO NOT HAVE PROPER ID. MY SOFTWARE SET UP MODEL NUMBER IS IN CHINES. CAN NOT FIND MY ID NUMBER ON THE MS 10105 BOARD. THANK YOU FOR GREAT VIDEO AND HELP. JEROME
Your video has answer some questions i had already, but what materials have you cut/engraved using this machine? will it do 2mm rubber for stamps? Thanks!
Sorry missed your comment. Yep, 2mm rubber is easy, have made some stamps myself. You can engrave wood, plastics and mark metals (not engrave), cuts 5mm ply, MDF, acrylic no problem.
this laser cutting machine is the only one which we don't see many videos of it on you tube and that's proof that's is just a rubbish
for all asker yes its worth to buy watch ebay, then at the lowest price buy it it doesn't use directly dxf or any vector but look for inkscape , scorchwork made a plugin for inkscape then you can put in your vectors it cuts trough easily 1/8 acrylic I believe 1/4 also can be cut in one pass for those who waiting on someone confirm them yes you can buy, for those need to looking for epilog lasers.. don't waste your time here
Does the laser shut off if the lid is opened or keep running, need to know for safety purposes before purchasing
There are zero safety precautions on this laser. If the lid is opened it will carry on, if the water pump fails the laser tube will over heat and fail. The earthing is also often a bit suspicious. Mine was at least connected (not always the case!) but it was done after the chassis had been painted so the earth wasn't actually touching any metal! It is easy enough to add your own lid and water flow kill switch, you just wire them in series with the laser arm button. Expect to have to do some mods if safety is a high priority for you. Which it should be for everyone really I suppose considering the voltages involved!
hi does it cut white cardstock paper? like 300-350gsm? and does it leaves burn marks around cut lines? one more question - is the laser dot spot thin and if we can adjust/focus it?
Hi Matt, I was wondering if you have slowdown of the wiring please? I lost my dvd and found another video to watch. It was great, until the wiring stage. Then he rushed through it. This is my first attempt at electronics, so I haven't a clue :) I've spent soooo long searching google and youtube. Thanks
Thanks for replying, I finally found a RUclipsr and it's all complete :) I'll be testing it tomorrow. Thanks again
Any laser machine can cut paper ?
It works with DXF files ?
yes
Can you cut Stone or sth like that? (Metals, Wood?)
Hello! I need your help. We have the same laser cutting. I have a problem: after engraving a table, cutting as is staggered by a few millimeters; most goes to the right, the greater the error. What could be the problem? Thank you Ps: i use Corellaser
Does this engrave anodized aluminium?
hi, i have this issue, ruclips.net/video/xsXmlLSDffc/видео.html do you know wich electronics i have to change? thanks
bom dia quanto sai uma maq dessas.
MATT COX with what you clean up the lenses?? i have this machine but when i use it for aluminum anodized it doesnt work really well. do you by any chance know how to configure it??
Have you done anything with it yet?
Im looking to get a 3D printer soon and was wondering, If I was going to try and make custom parts for a PC build eg water block, mounting plates(for sd cards, drives, rads etc) and other parts. What would be the best filaments to use? and could you suggest this printer for those jobs or a printer that you think that would be suitable for such items etc.. Any help and advice you could give, would be most welcome! Thanks!!
Many Thanks for the advice!!
I have used this machine and I recommend it fully! You can't beat the price, and it's pretty sturdy. Was able to cut through 1/8' of acrylic easily and I even was able to engrave words and a shell I found at the beach
I just bought one of these and it has yet to arrive. I am goign to upgrade some items on it, but my first question is: Can you engrave a logo in wood. Meaning take an existing logo in a .jpeg or other graphic file, and use it within the software? I haven't seen one video regarding that with anyone. Also, can you put multiple products inside the cutting space, and print the same logo on lets say on 5 pieces at once?
Thank you. I am excited to fix it up, I love doing things like this. I will be engraving hundreds of items so I hope this thing will hold up. I hope getting parts for it are fairly easy.
High quality 18mm ZnSe Focus lens (F50.8mm) and a 18mm Laser head w/ air assisted for K40 machine. i hope those are right.
Can you take a few simple pics of it. I am into making sue things are running on all 16 cylinders. I have commercial grade quantities that will be ran through that periodically and I do not want to spend hours troubleshooting. that I can not stand doing. I saw a youtube with some guy trying to put the dot in there and I think that is very beneficial...i mean how do you know where the cut is going to start. Also, the whole clamp thing. How critical is it to keep specific distances for even cutting, or does the software know and adjust for curvature etc.Do the items need to be secured tightly or does it matter?
how high of a workspace do yo have between the item to be engraved and laser, I want to laser cut dice would this be possible with this machine
Hi Matt. Wondering if you could help me. Iv recently bought the same model as yours and installed the software that came with it. Currently using LaserDRW. When I draw my design lets say an oval 50mm wide and 30 mm high, when I tell it o engrave it engraves 50mm wide then only 9mm high, looks like te design comes out squished.
Ciao Matt, I got the laser cutter and I am in UK too..How did you set up the water pump? I have the same as yours but the brass fitting doesn't fit nicely...it is not seal as the plastic native brass...how did you set this? the manual shows another pump and I am confused thank you Luca
+Matt Cox (Hububalli) Yes exactly that! thanks! so I will buy the sealing tape. Another question: the pumps is submergible...wht is the config the you used? like a tank with the pump underwater? I am sorry I am pretty new to this laser cutting :) Ciao Luca
Matt! thank you so much! this helps me a lot. and I will do the same! I am thinking to create a dedicated brass with my 3D printer in order to avoid those annoying leakages. will a 10 litres tank be fine for the purpose? thanks. Luca
My understanding is that you need to set the power of the laser manually at the beginning of each run. Assume I have plywood and would like to make a medal with engraved signs. Can I do cut and engrave run in one round or do i have to engrave first and then cut?
