This show is so weird to me. It’s oddly entertaining, but I find it weird they took a rather gritty and kinda realistic manga (the creatures don’t even talk in the source material) and turned it into a standard Saturday morning kid’s show. Not only that, but for most of the series, Gon’s kind of a bully. In episode one, it wasn’t too bad. The bear actually deserved to be beaten up and there was that brief moment Gon shared food with another animal, but then in just about every other episode, he’s basically hoarding all the best food for himself while repeatedly picking on the bear for no reason. The guy’s not even a villain after episode one, yet Gon continues to torture him. And that’s not even mentioning the times he stole from others, got away with it, and audiences were supposed to see that as a good thing.
