When you’re reading with the case, how comfy is it?

#7 is the main reason I got a Kindle Paperwhite. :) The font size and font type are enjoyable.

Now that I am creating content in my new podcast, I find myself now wanting to use the Kindle App on my Apple devices to capture notes and quotes from books that I reference. I have SO many books! I especially love hardbacks, which are more expensive, so I buy those used via eBay. I will be honest, I have found myself in the past reading MORE when I used to read more on my Kindle b/c I would "micro-read" during times of waiting in lines or at doctor's office.

I've recently purchased a Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 32GB, and for me, it's just amazing. For one thing, I don't have to deal with rude and irreverent bookstore employees anymore who think that because they work at Waterstones or Foyles that they can actually accuse me of theft! After purchasing this Kindle, I wouldn't bother buying a physical book and not because of the clutter and lack of space, but because of the human element of purchasing a book, I just can't be bothered with poor service. Having said this, I have found some problems. Some books have poor spelling and grammar, and it's annoying to have to purchase a book and then correct punctuation. You also neglected to point out the wireless capabilities of which the Paperwhite Signature Edition is now endowed. But this function seems to be more of a gimmick than anything, because once you've fully charged this baby, the likelihood of you needing to charge on the move, for instance,is quite unlikely. And considering you have the USBC cable, this renders the wireless capabilites more of a disadvantage than anything. So, the wireless function is bitter sweet.

I am an avid book reader, and a friend recommended the new Amazon Kindle paperwhite 8Gb. I have been reading 📚 books avidly for 30 years. I have also spent a small fortune on 📖 books. So I am watching 👀 video reviews and trying to decide whether to make a change.

All of your points are 100% I would agree with your assessment, esp about the Amazon-branded cases. They charge 3 or 4 times more than their actual value. Far more bettee case and cover options out there now that are just a fraction of what Amazon charges.

I have been a reader now for about three quarters of my life and didn't think the reading experience could possibly be improved upon but enter the Kindle Paperwhite. I was a bit hesitant to buy one and thought that it was going to be a novelty that would wear off after a while and I'd go back to physical books. Six years later I do at least 95% of my reading on a Kindle. It has improved my reading habits substantially, especially as I get older and my eyes are not as strong as they used to be. The ability to enlarge the text has made reading a lot less of a strain and I can read for longer periods of time without feeling that aching sensation that I might reading text from a physical book. However this 6th generation model is starting to show its age and has begun to freeze up on me more and more frequently and it's time for an upgrade. From these reviews I've been watching the Paperwhite Signature Edition seems the one best to serve my reading needs. When finances permit it I hope to retire that old model. It has served me well. 👍👍👍👍

8:16 i never thought about it this way!! i always knew my kindle was a lot more convenient than my physical books but you definitely hit the nail on the head by saying that with the kindle, you dont have to press down the book or open the book with a lot of effort because it's already right there on your kindle screen 16:11 you can actually download different dictionaries in the kindle !! but you still can't hear the pronunciation and im not sure if you can download a thesaurus 17:57 i usually just use the search feature to look up keywords that i remember from the page i want to go back to. theres also the page flip navigation system that you can access by just swiping up from the bottom when you have a book open. it shows you a thumbnail gallery of the pages and thats how i "flip through pages" on the kindle this is such an insanely comprehensive review!! i love how you emphasized the pros by comparing it to your experience with physical books and giving us an in-depth explanation of how it's better. i'll definitely be showing this to everyone who asks about kindles.

Great review. I'm looking to buy the Paperwhite for my wife. As she is a student. I'm curious to know if you can highlight and make notations to imported pdfs on this device like you would with an ebook. If you have an answer to this I really appreciate it. Thanks

Agree! Had one years ago but stopped using it to start using my phone and iPad but it’s not the same. So got the paperwhite a month ago too and love it especially for reading late at night. It’s made me love kindling again.

In another video someone mentioned that the plastic edges of the case holster can be "punchy" or annoying when holding. Do you feel this is true?

What I wanted was a slightly bigger screen. Is it worth upgrading from the 10th generation? Or would you just not bother?

My previous Kindle was a Paperwhite 1 (Kindle 3) from 2012 which is still as good as new although Amazon will no longer download to it, About Dec 2021 I got the Kindle 11 (Paperwhite 5) with the 6.8in screen and 8Gb storage, the old Kindle had 2Gb. The Signature (more expensive) Kindle with wireless charging has 32GB, not the 16Gb you mention and is intended for Audible books which take a lot more sstorage capacity. What annoys me is that I get emails from Amazon advertising various books I may be interested in but find when I go to them some are 'not available for purchse at present' - very frustrating! Also, navigating the different icons gets a bit confusing, the layout of the firmware could be very much improved IMO. When I bought the Kindle I went to the Amazon website to look for cases, At the time, literally everything they had was 'out of stock' and they had no idea when they would be available. The quoted prices were from $40 to $60 (in NZ) but by searching the internet found an independent supplier and bought two cases for about $8 each. THey are fabric covered and identical to the Amazon cases although the word Kindle on them is in the bottom right corner. I read my kindle for at least a couple of hours every day and this case shows absolutely no signs of wear. A very big 'pro' for me is the new battery which lasts for weeks and the USB-C connection which is much faster than the old micro USB.

I got the leather one. Though it does not seem to be genuine leather, I chose it over the fabric one as it can be wiped clean and less of a chance of gathering mold, as the fabric one might.

Hello, I'm confused. Is your kindle signature? Because I'm planning to buy pw but it says there's no one yellow light so i was wondering if there is a kindle paperwhite 8gb that has yellow light other than the signature edition? Also about the built in dictionary, is it also in Kindle Paperwhite 8gb?

Great review from an enthusiastic reader. Kudos! I am a baby boomer who was given my first Kindle (Keyboard 3) about 11 years ago. I would not go back to paper books for all of the reasons you mentioned. I am an avid readers of literary classics and "the complete works of" books and have repurchased my entire library (4 floor-to-ceiling bookcases) of classic books for Kindle for pennies on the dollar. I now have hundreds of books and omnibus editions resident on my original Kindle (4 Gb storage then) and still have room for a few more. Upgrading to newest Kindle Paperwhite very soon, thus perusing the reviews.

Re: Con #3 about the inability to flip through pages. Not every book has it, but the x-ray feature can be really helpful. I often will come across a name while reading that I know I’m seen before but can’t remember the details. In a physical book, it sometimes feels like trying to find a needle in a haystack, but x-ray will show you all the instances of where the character appeared.

Hi, I have the same issue with the case, but there weren't always as bad as this version, it's mainly be cause for this version of paperwhite the case is made of recycled materials. Love your review

Great video and review. I still use my Kindle that I got in 2018 which works pretty well. But maybe it's time to invest in the new version.

I went for the leather one as had leather on previous Kindle. So far I like it & cannot see why it’s getting poor reviews! I like the fact it should last well & not suffer from staining which fabric one does…
