It's Grainger's arrangement of the concerto, where he condensed the orchestra & piano part into something playable by a single person.

Percy Grainger was great friends with Edvard Grieg, who like him wrote mostly miniatures and short pieces , this concerto was the only large scale piece. Also friends with Frederick Delius another lyrical composer.
Grainger is like friends with everyone lmao. I recently viewed a transcription of the third movement of Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto and some guy down in the comments said Rachmaninoff and Grainger were friends.
@@laiyinquan8355 that's more likely as Grainger resided in the USA during the 1930s ,indeed he married a Danish lady in the Hollywood bowl in front of a large crowd I believe. This would coincide with Rachmaninov's time in America 🇺🇸

A recording of Grainger playing the concerto with the Sydney Symphony--via piano roll--was released by RCA Victor. A later performance at a London Proms concert is on youtube
