So true about the safety - I moved here from Birmingham, UK around a month ago fairly similar sized city to Da Nang but the contrast in that regard couldn't be more apparent, there's a real atmosphere of mutual trust in Vietnam I've noticed so far which I spoke about in my video too.

I think Vietnamese people always go for a walk on the beach very early or in the afternoon because at that time there is little sunshine, it is not too hot and the UV radiation is not too high.

Vietnam airlines only flies to direct to vietnam (Ho Chi Minh) from San Fran to my knowledge, I would rather fly direct to Vietnam I don't like to make connecting flights in different countries if I can help it
