am at a distance from Hoedspuit and must say it looks so enticing.

A far cry from the picnic spot l remember from the 1950's. There were a few tables and benches under the trees and no fences. It was basically the only place you were allowed to get out of your car, apart from the camps themselves. The commercialisation of a wild place is so ironic and to me so wrong. I'm not complaining, just so grateful that I've been privileged to experience total isolation from civilization - that feeling of being in the wild. I cherish those memories.
