Just pulled this out of the fountains jumpstart box I got. It’s a cool commander! I don’t know if I’ll build the same discard strategy but I’m definitely going to build this deck. I’m thinking it’s about time all those shadow creatures I have get shine!

What about something like forced mutation, where you add more +1/+1 counters each upkeep to slowly make wolverine stronger?

I am building this deck right now. I have narrowed the pile of cards down to 100 or so cards, not counting lands. I can't wait to be done with the cuts and begin playtesting. Your video has added a few more cards to the pile...

Great video! Really highlights the commander as well! A lot of videos around this card is the same same and some are a bit hard to understand for myself as I’m newer due to only playing for a year, this video helped understand how the commander works and I will be building my deck around this way due to having majority of the cards! Nightmare Shepherd doesn’t trigger Rendmaw twice. Two-types cards must be cast (and lands must be played) in order to get Rendmaw’s trigger - not entering the battlefield. By the way, nice options! Love Anrakyr

Hey! Great video, thank you for the deck ideas. I just wanna let you know the "of the Second Sun" abilities do not give you your beginning phase before the post-combat main phase. The ability triggers at the start of your post-combat main phase, but you don't get the additional beginning phase until "...after this phase" referring to your 2nd main phase. It will look like this (Post-Combat Main Phase, Untap, Upkeep, Draw, End). Xanathar's ability will still trigger off the additional upkeep, but you'll only have time to cast instants before the end step. Thanks again for the deck ideas.

Thanks for the tips! There's a lot of content out there that focuses on the same cards with this commander. But it's refreshing to see some other cards with a lot of synergy and wincon

Niko’s been really fun, but by far the best creature I’ve found to make shard copies of is nesting dovehawk. Pop it off before combat and it’s exponential.

Thing in the ice will not instantly transform if the shards become a copy of it. You still have to cast an instant or sorcery to make them transform.

Overdrive Awakener doesn’t work with Shards. Also Nesting Dovehawk doesn’t populate shards unless they’re a copy of a creature. So with 2 Nesting Dovehawk shard copies they can copy each other and because copiable characteristics, layer 1, only include printed characteristics, you end up with 2 more Nesting Dovehawks that don’t revert back to shards at the end of turn.

First of all, countering is bad. Second, you've missed some of the best options, for White is Kataki wars wage, its like Magus of Tabernacle or Energy flux. For black its Aener Snap, great anti token, counters board wipe. Why pay 4 mana for Night of Soul betrayal, when you can get eather targeteg version in Curse of Deaths hold, or Illness in the ranks for just kne mana. And Plague Engineer or engineering plague. Gorilla shaman in red. Great Aurora is terrible aganst wide tokens, they just draw so much cards and pun all lands. In multicolor golgari charm is really underrated, so as Jund Charm.

In this video I get Power 4 or greater mixed up with Mana Cost 4 or Greater. I correct this in part 3 of the series. Also, this is an early video sound quality is much better in my newer stuff.

Nice deep dive! I really appreciate that this isn't the same list every other content creator has put out. It gave me a lot of fresh ideas for my list. I do think the video could be tighter if you didn't read out every detail of every card you show. Since it's on screen, you can just call out what's interesting and we can see the rest!

You don't get another trigger. You only trigger off combat damage.

You got archfiend wrong. It only works for whatever that opponent took. It is a glorified black double damage enabler, but slightly worse. It doesn't in any way spread the damage out

If you’re building a Frog deck with Clement, you’re doing it incorrectly. Splash the good frogs, but it’s the bouncing that matters.

Sleeping on Helga since Bant has a lot of protection spells/abilitites. Not to mention the fact that she can have a Lieutenant in Inga and Esika. Helga's mana ability scales with her power which can lead to her single handedly paying for those 4 plus mana creatures. Pair this Valley Floodcaller if you can find a balance between creature and noncreature spells (mana rocks/ramp spells perhaps?), then you can get some serious value out of Helga.

Is there some joke among creators with Vren, the RELENTLESS. Like the 4th person call her Vren, the RESTLESS 😂😂😂

Alania can copy 3 spells a turn by the way: one of each instant, sorcery, and otter. In my storm deck I’ve been playtesting she’s pretty cracked

I believe baylen is higher than C tier- i think the first 2 abilites speak for themselves and make any token spam(treasure, creature, food whatever) strategy viable with extra mana and cards. Sure his third ability doesnt synergize with its first two but if you're doing token spam and you make enough tokens you dont need to have any deckbuilding slots supporting its third ability to potentially smash face

They should allow lutri without companion.
