Brian playing his Low Eb MacNeil whistle at boxwood festival 2008.
What is the name of the breathing technique he uses in the first few seconds of the video? It sounds like he's doing some sort of trill, switching from high and low octaves-or overtones-but without changing any fingering. It seems like its entirely lung and breath work. Amazing.
❤❤❤
yeah... brian is the best ever !
❤❤❤
I've bought my first tin-whistle when I heard mr. Brian Finnegan.
That's just insane! <3
Could you please create a video tutorial for one of Brian's songs? Congratulations on your amazing channel! Sending love from Brazil
@@tamyvelozo I have one coming next week for 'Only' and I've covered 'Lunchtime Boredom' too: ruclips.net/video/_S5CCjusmas/видео.htmlsi=UjfF4b_O9kufMXQS Brian is incredibly skilled though, so I'm pretty sure I don't do either of them justice 🤣
This man is an absolute beast.
Amazing ! Where can I find a mouth piece like yours ?
I've been listening to your playing on spotify whilst working! It really motivates me and I love the intricate melodies. I also don't have to chnage the track much because the music just keeps going which is great! I play clarinet so I'm a bit of melody person!
Hello Sir, I was wondering, is the version of Belfast that you put on spotify played with an Eb whistle as well? Just wondering because I would like to try playing along, thank you!
Three jealous Englishmen watched this video
What brand of whistle are you playing? Also, is this the liw Bb below a low D or below the high D ? Amazing playing!
Incredible!? Where's the tabs?
Amazing job! Well done!
Does this dude have lungs😱😱😱
AMAAAZIINGG!!! Thank you!!!!

Excellent! Enjoyed that. Cheers mate!
Man that is awesome. It seems like the music is just channelling through him. And what a rhythm!!!!
class
Awesome!
Hi all, does anyone know where to find sheet music of little impulse that Brian Finnegan composed? Much appreciated
Steffan Evans I've known it to be called "Nipperquin's reel"; however, it looks like it's actually called "Back to Belfast" and composed by Barry Kerr. Also, sheet music: thesession.org/tunes/9917
JHV112 thanks for that, rather annoying when my tune pal doesn't come up with anything.
+JHV112 Yes... it's "Nipper Quinns Reels" on the "World Looks Away" Album by Barry Kerr... but as usual with most Irish Traditional tunes, it'll have a different name... Usually songs on albums have a few different movements that each have their own name, then the overall song has it's own name... "Back to Belfast" lasts about 2:29 on the album, then it moves into a new movement i.e a different tune with a different name.
What's even more amazing is he manages to play this with finger tips rather than piper's grip.
because hes a high whistle player so hes not used to pipers grip
No, it's ok, it's just the goldie low whistle. The holes are much smaller and you can actually play with finger tips
Брайн Финниган рулит =)
Love it! Inspires me on my flute! There's a youtube vid of you from 1996 playing a couple of reels (not sure of venue), could you please tell me what flute you are playing? Looks like a bamboo? I'm wanting to upgrade from my basic models and have had bamboo suggested :)
Patrick Olwell Bamboo flute based out of Charlottesville, VA
very good i have enjoyed this so much also i woudn't mind having a bit of blast in the recording studio with the pipes and this guy!
Belflast- the ravishing genius of the bones :)
Good grief, this is fantastic. Just starting out on the low whistle myself and I find this video thrilling and intimidating all at once. Brilliant stuff, thanks for sharing!
Hahah I was about to say something equally snarky - glad someone beat me to it :-p
just amazing!
WOW!! that tonguing is out of this world
the answers you seek are all there in the video description ;)
Yeah ! It's MY KiTchen ! after the breakfast, il y a des petits bouts de crèpes dans la flute au début !!!!
the best part about brian finnegan is not specificly his playing ability but his emotions in his playing
WOW DUDE ... AMAZING ... when are you comming at montreal !?
@theherpman94 Hi there, Brian's the best whistler I have EVER seen. When he played in Flook he played mostly Overton whistles (high and low). One of the makers of Overton whistles, Bernard Overton, died, The other maker, Colin Goldie, now has his own brand, the Goldie whistle (I think the basis of Overton and Goldie is still the same). I have an Overton low D, made by mr.Overton himself. Best sound I ever heard!
The intro thing was great
This is a great tune, and you own it!
@WindyPoplars09 Or Back to Belfast, the title he used on his 2010 CD The Ravishing Genius of Bones. He used the above title when he taught it in class.
bloody hell makes my stomach spin im welling up most beautiful thing i have ever heard
@CookieKentuki Isn't it obvious? He's doing his taxes.
He's a magician! XD he's playing it without piper-gripping it!
@Waelwulfas 'Back to Belfast" written by barry Kerr
what song is this?
