Hahah in my head i am like why are the pressing the gas pedal when you chimed in. Those vortec engines are excellent. Have one with 221,000 on an express and it purrs.
LOL seeing this. just last week i had a stuck alt. i used wd 40 and the crap was running out brown i used a full can and it was still coming out brown. then i put a little PB blaster on it not caring if it worked i just needed it to work long enough to get on the trailer. about 1/4 mile away. but it worked.
Maybe this is what I need to do. I'm having problems but it didn't start happening till I had the transmission pulled for the rear main seal. Now doesn't start well. I hope it's not a main bearing
if this is true alternators would be completely sealed off to the elements like ECMs are, many cars have low mount alternators you think they dont get wet in the rain? that being said yes the alternator is messed up but thats because like he said in the video bearing is shot
These have been a good running set just getting old and lose air after sitting for a bit tire inflator broke when airing up the tires in the truck I was picking up and forgot about the trailer after... Should have also packed a spare. Likely on the 4hr drive I was only 20 minutes from home.
Following a friend home with a camper they had their lugs come loose & blow the tire ruining the rim and hub. Tire hadn't been off the trailer in years, so now I do check my lug torque more frequently especially on longer trips.
You're missing a spring - goes over the throttle rod. Hooks onto the governor arm, and the throttle arm. Supposed to hold them all tight together. Will prevent throttle hunting.
Tip(s): Don't put your parts right in the bottom of the cleaner tank. They need to be in a basket or on a wire tray to allow the wave to propagate before it goes into the part. Get a loose leaf tea holder for your tiny parts like jets then toss it in so you don't loose them. And if you're going to work on the floor, make sure its covered in dirt and rocks. And that you're wearing OSHA approved sandals. Whoops, wrong country. ;)
i had one very similar, i liked it but really didnt have a use for it other than for my old camper which i sold so i sold it with the generator. biggest difference is rather than the outlets like yours it had a regular household duplex receptacle.
Nice work. Right, first pull!! Works everytime!! I had to replace the main bowl gasket and the bowl bolt gasket on my power washer. I've got a couple of other generators that need this work done. One is a dual cylinder ONAN. Great job!! It also looks like it may have a bad stator winding on one of the two phases?? Is there a 240v output? Spray some corrosion x into the stator to protect the windings. It will also eat up all of the corrosion if there is any.
Generic switch used in an opposite of normal configuration. ON is open circuit, OFF closes the circuit which grounds the ignition and shuts off the generator. Would have cost a whole penny more to buy it with the indicator reversed
That’s an easy enough fix. Probably don’t even have to replace anything except that broken petcock. Pull the carb apart and clean it and will be like new. 🔧
Implying I turned the power off to shut it off or why it wasn't starting? Cause neither would be correct. I may have hit the switch while attempting to start but as seen in the video flipped the switch back on.
@@How-To-Tools it is super easy, I've done three this week on all of my small engines. I found that running an engine dry is not the way to go. It leaves really bad fuel barnacles. But the Stabil fuel stabilizer does a great job.
@@Jon-W dry is not good. The barnacles are all throughout the carb and the first tank and they need to be scrapped off. I just did this on a little Coleman camping generator and I did it a couple of years ago on my 77 van. Had to totally rebuild the carburetor, remove and clean the fuel tank, replace the pump, run a cleaning snake through the lines and replace the sender unit. The pump and sender unit was totally seized up. The pump was frozen and rusty. Have you done a video on the carb clean out yet?
Label on the front says otherwise. Considering it ran on "O" id say it's safe to say that's on. Could be wrong but "I" I think closes the switch/contact leads. Which in use on a small engine would ground the ignition and turn off the motor. "O" would be an open circuit and send power to the ignition.
That's the EVAP VENT VALVE which is open most of the time. If you apply vacuum on the fuel tank with vent close it will collapse. You also cannot fill up the tank with the vent close.
Got a couple computers for an LS swap. Used the scanner to pull the VIN info to see the stock configuration. Should be able to plug in a tuner to reflash using the same connector.
If u owned eh furd they would of been running on their hands to help yah

Btw have a question. I have a 98 c1500 with 5.0 vortec and it idles sucks and after like a minute, it stalls, but it drives fine. Do you know why?
@@Misterreupload-t9yit’s your fuel and air mixture, it might be the throttle position sensor or a vacuum leak
As an Australian wtf is in American washer fluid?
May have ran to get parts and forgot the gas can so a washer fluid container might have been filled with gas...
pb then lots of brake clean, let dry then good to go
It's going good enough to make a pass at rough truck
Worth about $5 the cost of the gas you put in it.

But at the same time pumping the throttle just feels natural when trying to start a beater.

You can take them apart and clean them and put it back together, just need to hold the brush springs to get the rotor back in.

Washer fluid??
True. The bearings are most likely shot.
No doubt it will fail in the long run. Just gotta last a run for rough truck
Washer fluid?
I love those blazers. And yes i said Blazer not Tahoe because thats what it is
Same same, but different. But still same
Aah what kind of fuel pump is that? How does it run? is it connected to any power source and where is the return fuel line?
Harbor freight transfer pump, runs on 2 D batteries. The return line still runs into the factory fuel tank. Just a short use setup to move the truck.

Well over 200k?

These are some goofy single receptacle outlets too. Looks like they could accept round pins and blade connectors

Got this one from the guy who let it go from being too rusty. The wife's car gets a way better treatment
@@How-To-Tools I understand. It's never to late to start using it and stop the rust in its track's 👍
Its actually the “salt belt”. Rust belt is the areas that used to have car manufacturing but are gone now (Detroit).

Ethanol fuel strikes again
Gotta love fuel that draws in water and causes corrosion. I try to run ethanol free in my small engines, or anything that doesn't get frequent use.
