Looks great!. Nice work
@@WATTScostumes cheers mate. Getting it nice and smooth is hard work. 🥵😓😄
What glue are you using?
I’m using both PVA and CA glue. CA glue to hold the frame in place while the PVA dries. 😊
would be so much better without the music
Can’t please alll I guess. 😊 My new video don’t have music in it.
Great work mate. Strange that it needs a second planking seeing it is going to bed smothered in puty anyway ;)
Cheers. I think it’s because of the finish. The wood for the secondary planking is much finer than the first planks.
Love it! This is going to be an amazing ship. Are you keeping tract of the hours this model will take? Amazing stuff!
@@genojoe3176 Cheers Joe! 🫡 well, I got the ship exactly 3 weeks ago today and I’ve probably spent 70-75 hours on it so far. Give a take some hours. It’s going to slow down with the hours the next month until I have holidays in mid December. Then I can pick up the slack 😅😅 Have to spend a lot of time on the hull, it’s imperative that it’s on point 👌😁 Apparently my family wants to see me again, so taking it easy from now on 🫶 It’s fun to build something different than sailing ships, this is my first ship without a sail.
@@TheBurningSail Family? what's that! Just you worry about that ship!
😅😅 I’m not allowed to bring Missouri upstairs, so I’m confined to building it in the workshop 😅😅 No to find something else I can build upstairs, so all wins. 👌😅

@@ech0tang0 oh never mind me. I get what you mean now. 😅😅😅😅 Thought you meant me looking confusing into the camera to see if everything was ok with the shot. 😅😅
great work my friends

Very nice job. Very labor intensive You have a lot of patience........I'm curious why you use white glue. CA is faster, cleaner, and stronger
@@BennyCFDcheers mate. 🫡🫡 I’m using contact cement, once it’s in the deck it’s nice and sticky and you can just put the pieces on. Ca would talk way too long to glue every single piece on.

Hello from Australia. I was wondering where you got your "Nail Pusher" from ?? It looks like a good fit in the hand. The one you are using around the 1:27 mark.....PS Happy Wife, Happy Life.
@@maxclickenhof1049 hiya mate. That’s the pin pusher from Occre. I have a couple throughout the years but this is the best one I tried so far. You can get it here occre.com/en/products/pin-pusher however I’m not sure what you need to pay in import tax, so it might be cheaper if you can find one in your local hobby store, I dunno. But that’s the one I use. 😃👌
The deck looks great👍🏾😻
Cheers mate. Although I know the planks are out of scale. 😅🫡
Where did you get your blue Matt from ?
@@markthaxton3839 purchased it online from a Danish web store. 😁 It’s just a normal cutting mat size A1 I think. 👌
@@TheBurningSailthank you!
@markthaxton3839 no problem mate. 👌😃
I put planning in full strips then mark the lines on it mutch kwicker and easy Les time it's to slow the way you have dun it
@@colinjohnpack3105 that’s a matter of preference. I personally don’t like full planks on a size like this. If it was smaller then I might do it, but the outcome is much more satisfying and a lot nicer in my opinion 😊
I doubt there are any portholes on any of the Iowa class battleships, even so it should look pretty cool with lights.
You’re absolutely correct. I just got it confirmed from the curator of the New Jersey, that none of the Iowa class battleship had/has portholes in the hull. They had in the superstructure tho. And I’ve already soldered the LED’s in the hull. 😩😩😅
@@TheBurningSail battleship New Jersey is about an hour from my house. I visited that one day and spent the entire day there just walking around. It's fantastic. I'm going to check through my pictures. If I have some good pictures that look different I will send them to you
@ that sounds awesome Joe! I really want to see one of the battleships in tel life one day. But that requires me to fly to the states 😅 I’m really interested in being absolutely sure that there are no portholes in the hull. Makes sense if there isn’t, but at the bow and stern, just below deck there might be a few portholes. I’m not 100% sure yet. Even tho Ryan the curator said that there isn’t. He also might know for a fact 😅
@@TheBurningSail Ryan lives and breathes on that ship. He knows every square inch. I met him when I was there. Really nice guy
@ he seems really nice, and odd in someway. He tends to stop mid sentence and then talk about something different. 😅 However I think it’s because he’s just a huge New Jersey buff that he has to stop himself so to stay on topic. 😅🤷♂️ which is relatable. 😁
That's planking fantastic. Great work! Now for more .... planking ;)
Just two layers more 😅😅😅that’ll be done in an afternoon. 🤪😅
I'm looking for the little mini sander that you had what's the name of it
The mini sander is the Proxxon Delta Sander. It can also be used to cut as you can replace the sanding part with either a 8 or 1,2 mm cutting blade. I love mine to bits. 😅😁🫡
i want to build that tooT_T
Go for it! 🙌🙌🫡
Where did you get the kit from?
From Occre. The link is in my description below the video. 🫡👌😁
Looks good… 👍🏽
Cheers mate. 🫡👌
This is a TON of decking and planking but well worth the pain. How long did it take you to do the entire decking?
Took about two days, most of that time were spent on cutting and painting strips tho. I used contact cement and that was really fast. You can probably do it in less than two days, I’m just not fast at times. 😃
@TheBurningSail yikes! I figured as much, but the end result is amazing
@ it wasn’t that bad really. I might have spent a day cutting strips and a few hours planking it. It goes faster with cement than if you use PVA glue
Cut the corner of the bord to fit in side the rib or a Lego block it's that easy
You mean the for the smoke generator I reckon. It’s been decided for me, that I don’t want a smoke generator (wife told me that I didn’t want it anyway) 🤷♂️😅
What mat is that and where did you get it? Thank you!
It’s just a normal cutting mat, but big. Think it might be size A1. 😁
Great work mate :)
Cheers mate. 😁
2 words. TOP CA

@WATTScostumes thank you mate. 👌🫶
Perhaps docking bumpers
You're right there are no portholes. But on the picture i Saw, there are some protuberences on the actual hull nearby thé points you showed.
It turns out that there actually is a few. I just don’t know where they are 😅 But most is drains and whatnot.
@TheBurningSail drains have to be to the aft, above the waterline. On a warship, i think they are somewhat hidden.
Just got it confirmed from the curator of the New Jersey. There are no portholes in any of the Iowa class battleships. And here I’ve already soldered the LED in the hull. 🤪😩😅
@TheBurningSail oh ! Too Bad ! BTW just paint the LED thé same color as hull, and don't connect them. Lesser loss.
@ they at already connected and everything is wired. But I can just cut them out if need be. The insert are also blinded, so I would have to drill a hole in them before the light could be seen.
This will be a great build series. I will follow every step.
