HARVESTING & COOKING FLORES + QUIOTES DE AGAVES
Просмотров 9585 лет назад
On this rainy spring day, me and my compadre Zarco headed out to harvest quiote from my neighbor's yard. We carried it back to my patio where we picked the flowers and buds (this variety doesn't need the stamens removed and bitter flavors are good for you), boiled them briefly, and then cooked them in some sunflower oil and a little sea salt. The inner stalk will be roasted later. Mmmmmm!

Prickly Pear (Nochtli) Harvest with Chef Felicia

All species of Prickly Pear Cactus have edible, sweet fruit. Join me and my students as we harvest the fruit respectfully, and clean the skin of tiny thorns (glochids) using the water technique.
Does it matter which species of cholla you choose?
Felicia thank you for sharing these videos. It's so enriching and heartening to see indigenous knowledge being continued and practiced 💚

This is so so interesting, thank you 🙏... love hearing the birds in the background..
Do you do a spiritual cleanse on a person?
Why did my nopales cut with a stringy texture? They didn’t slice with easy like your did….😢 and they didn’t come out good and were rough on the outside….
A sign that it landed on my birthday :)
Hey Felicia! Love this recipe and I tried it out myself. How many weeks/months max can this last in the fridge? I made mine on July 5th and just checked it and it looks okay to me! I just go through my groceries and food slower than I would like. Thanks so much for sharing your recipe!
