10 uCi of Radioactive CS-137 Vs. 4 Meters Ludlum model 3, 2403, 9-3, Minimonitor II Geiger Counter
Просмотров 8272 года назад
Here I test a new sample disc of Cesium 137 against my meters. The 2403 with 44-38 was calibrated with probe not long ago, the Minimonitor II hasn't been calibrated since 1990 and picks up betas too. The 9-3 is my apocolypse meter which I hope I never have to really use and is only a few years old. The model 3 reads correct background and I believe to be pretty accurate. I also have another 240...

Nice video! The hottest I have seen on a rock was 1.7M CPM on a 489-110D pancake (Equiv to 44-9) this was on some killer autunite, big massive cabinet specimen. The Victoreen 190 I was using has dead time compensation, so I suspect you would be looking at around 700k CPM on a meter without.
ripper!!

This disc is see through and you can see the actual "source" in it. It is very very small, any large sized sample would probably be pretty dangerous! I was able to hit 7 mr/hr on both 2403's with 44-38. Just by finding the sweet spot and giving it more time to stabilize. 80,000 cpm window open. Today I wanted to see, since there is a big difference in outputs between label side and source side, whether all betas are blocked on the label side by the plastic. I used the 9-3 ion chamber since it has a wide response to different energies including beta. So I put the disc label side up and sat the 9-3 on top of it. I got .8 mr/hr on the meter, then opened the window and it increased to 1.6. not much difference, but the other side shoots to 50. So It blocks most all betas from the disc. Source side is 1 and 50, showing the beta gamma difference at the same exact distance.
Awesome? How long did it take to get to you house?

Would you be interested in selling that bike?
long gone
That bike is absolutely wonderful!
What gas oil ratio do you mix?
40:1
What year did they start down tuning the power??
I believe with the introduction of the power valve 87

Hi Robert, I know you sold the KX, but I just found a low hour 2004. Is it still a rocket in stock form? What did you do to the bike to get it to run so smooth? Thank you!
It did run good! I had 4 kx500's and this was the last. I think what made it smooth was the rad valve with the larger carb 41.5mm. Stock they are fast but jetting can be a pain. These bikes want a lot of open space, and really don't like being putted around, gearing is high on these bikes.
@@robertperry8346 So just to clarify- what carb did you use and can you explain what a rad valve is and what kind of that did you use? You didnt touch the heads at all? Thanks Robert!
@@shinedown_7459 Never had the engine apart. Replaced the reed valves with boyesen rad valve, and changed the carb with a pwk 41.5 mm taper bore that I got on ebay. Main jet was like a 182 and pilot was like a 72 but I am really just guessing here but they were definantly larger than stock.
@@robertperry8346 ruclips.net/video/j8caiU0k0Lg/видео.html
@@robertperry8346 thanks...I just got one..and I tend to agree. Gearing is really high. Was thinking of a smaller counter.
I don't think it should be smoking that much
Maybe too much water injection
I have over 250 hours on the KX500, maybe a few more . If you're a seasoned rider and know your bikes, you wouldn't be popping a video of the fat guy wearing shorts without boots on starting it up. Give me a break.
It's legendary, for why put on boots when you can just start it anyways? Hes not riding it.
That thing is huge
it is pretty big
Would you like to sell? I'd pay top dollar, if you're interested. Thanks

@@robertperry8346 Rob why did you sell that Beast I would think you regret it now after all these years plus it was the last year they made the 500
@@swully-ol4lx Theres no real place to ride it, so I sold it to someone in austrailia.
Would you be willing to sale this bike? I’m a serious buyer!
I sold it long ago
Last year for the kawi 500. What a dam shame. Just for the sound alone is worth buying. He says he uses unleaded, it will run better on 105-110 octane leaded racing fuel and 927 castor oil preemix 32 to1.
GDV. High octane fuel does nothing for a bike that is not built. If anything makes them run worse. High octane fuel makes a bike run cooler and if the bike has not been set up for it it will only cause problems.
@@andrewpowers4257 If a KX is not built then nothing is pump gas is trash always has been.
Love it

Take off the wheels and your feet will touch the ground. (nice bike)
curious what your jet size is? are the jets that work in that carb ones that work in the stock wpk 39
I don't remember, but they were larger. It takes the same style jets because it's still a PWK.
Robert Perry ah i gotcha. did you sell this bike?
yep :-(
man :(
Ouch is right! I would never try to start CR500 in tennis shoes! I thought 03 was the last year of the KX500?

I just wanna say, the reality is that no dirt bike should ever have this much power, it pales in comparison to the brakes for one. It is capable of serious sick speed quick, and unless your one that has a millisecond quick throttle hand, might just land you in a heap of trouble. I really wish it had a 6 speed tranny, 1st is geared way high, and sometimes you feel like you don't have the right gear for everything. I think it idles in 1st at like 10 mph! In my opinion it is no trail bike, not for tight twisty stuff, the rake on the forks isn't really designed for tight turning, however if you have trails where you have extended open straightaways, or desert, the rake will give you confidence to explore it's power. No CR shake, no need for a stabilizer, the bike always seems rock solid no matter the speed. It's just that the trees or something else can hurt real bad, shit brakes combined with too much power is a recipe for disaster. They labeled it the widow maker for a reason, and I agree
awesome comment
very good comment, everything is correct!
strongly disagree! should have more power! if you feel up to it install Montana Rons power induction PWK carb setup. this will gain you strong low end and a crisp throttle all around. still trails the KTM 550 MXC.
love the KX500 sound!
The last of the big bores were made for desert racing not trail riding. Hence the rake and high gearing.
Robert , I left that comment laughingly , cause I've had my experiences as well broken tailbone was the first ,they are stupid fast and brutal in every gear , that's what makes them so cool, they are at the virg of un rideable , hope people keep them around to let the future generations of four strokers who thinks their stuff is fast, get a death ride from the past.
Did you see my other kx500 vids?, I think the roosting one is pretty cool.

The reason you don't ride it much is because it eat that ass up for ya,didn't it? Been three years now but you haven't forgot what she did to ya. Am I right? I used to race have won championships, but even I know what that thing will do to ya, 4 stroke 450 not even close, there's no substitute!
doug rucker I got busted up pretty good, but that wasn't the reason I didn't ride it. No substitute for sure its the only bike ever had that I don't feel in total control of. Something I can't master, sure sharpens the reflexes tho, and you gotta be quick when you like twisting the right thing all the way! You never know what your gonna get!
why kawasaki??
It was the last of the big bore 2 strokes
why yamaha??
