CC David - I'm over the moon that you're doing this 😀 I've been bingeing Chatabix on and off for 18 months and I've just got to your detecting stuff. Having been an enthusiastic detectorist for just over a year (I'm 52, so we're in the same middle-aged boat) and a huge podcast fan, this is a dream come true for me. I've found hundreds of coins, plenty of Roman stuff, silver and a even a Treasure item, so I really hope you keep it up even though you haven't filmed for a while. The crops are being harvested now so this is prime time to get out, and remember that EVERY field has multiple coins in it, and when you get your first it's an adrenaline rush like no other. Once that seal is broken you won't be able to move for coins! If you need any advice drop me a line @TheBeepySticker on Instagram and if you're ever in the South Staffordshire area with your detector I'll gladly show you the ropes 🙂 PS. Love the jumper. PPS. Get a springy lanyard for that Carrot or I guarantee you'll lose it... PPPS. Discriminate out the first 11 notches on your 250 (In All Metal) and you'll dig much less shit because that's the range in which rusty crap lives.

Welcome to the hobby, David. It is indeed a frustrating one sometimes, but when you find that gold coin, it will all be worth it. It really is all about perseverance and patience. You live in one of the best places in the world to find all kinds of amazing history and treasures. It will come with time. I always thought it would have been great to see you in an episode or two of "Detectorists." Love your comedic style, makes me smile and burst out laughing every time I see you in something on the teley. Keep at it. P.S. if you place your pin pointer end on the ground when you turn it on it will ground balance itself. Could have been a very mineralized area you were in. A Canadian friend, Cheers!
