Something to remember. Arcane takes place like 15-20+ years in the past. And Noxus picks up right when Arcane ended so it's still in that past timeframe. That's why some of the characters look different from what you're used to seeing in the cinematics and videos that take place in the "current" time. It's why Darrius isn't as "bulky" and looks younger.

So to answer your question, it's a bit of both a cool annual cinematic and also for sure a teaser to the next series that they will do eventually. Yes, the dude with the axe is Darius and the troll is Trundle which is the troll king. However their duel was in the past when Darius is still proving himself and Trundle might not be troll king at that point. Also Trundle could have easily killed Darius there but he wanted to show off by ripping off his head, but since this is a Noxus cinematic, the Noxus guy is supposed to win and show how determined and resilient he is. Also, Trundle's club is made out of True Ice, a special type of ice which hurts a lot to wield unless you're Iceborn (a rabbit hole that I don't want to go in right now). Basically Darius could have died by just picking up the corrupted frozen axe but he pulled through, which by lore standards is pretty badass. Also the lady in end is the same shadowy figure that was messing with Mel in season 2, her name is LeBlanc and she's incredibly powerful and the leader of the Black Rose. Vladimir is the former leader, I think. Assassin chick is Katarina, spider lady is Elise. The people who attack Mel are the Grey Legion, a cult of hemomancers and necromancers which follow Vladimir.

The girl on the end was Leblanc, she was the shadowy black rose mage in Arcane that killed Ambessa. Shes over a thousand years old and is a master deceiver. And yes shes a member of the Black Rose, they are probably trying to take over Noxus at this point. Also Ive heard that the writers said anything coming out whether its a music video or short trailer is the new canon but the video itself is a Cinematic for League 2025.

Animation in general has gotten so beautiful in recent years. The crazy thing is I think this project is gonna hold up nicely, even against the current titles that are airing from prominent regions like Japan and South Korea. I really enjoyed Link Click and Fog Hill of the 5 Elements so I'm 100% ready to see another project from a Chinese studio. Ever since watching the short film, I have been dying to see this concept officially release. A story about memory with crazy visuals and surreal worlds just sounds like limitless potential. The original short film had such a touching plot as well. Add in the music and this is shaping up to be a juicy drop. I hope the project is able to maintain a high level of quality for every episode released. The amount of amazing art in the previews alone has me fully sold.

Been praying to see the day that top talent chinese animators start huddling together to start producing themselves. I love seeing them work on different anime projects and getting hired as freelancers but its clear they have a unique vision themselves when it comes to animation and I'm stoked for both this and to be hero x.

The VO for the for who said "clean up" voiced Clive from FF16. He's Arthur, the Excalibur Protoframe. Unfortunately, 1999 is more of a late game campaign suited for players that can access that content. You have A LOT of story to go through and understand before you take your trip to 1999.

You should watch the original short animation by the same creators. It really shows and introduces you to the world and characters of this series.

I actually think it makes sense for the type of music mostly found on analog machinery such as a cd’s to be what people in a distant future would listen to like think about if something were to happen on earth and all or most of digital history was erased and we had to start that again you’re going to have cds and stuff survive that sort of scenario

My pov is close but I mean I will bash a game that deserves it (looking at you veilguard) but right now people are being sheep. There is nothing to see in this trailer it doesnt say much tbh. Some things I can say are that: monitor faced monsters and super soldiers aside, this is very much NOT our 1999. Between the game original in universe brands, the weird looking cars, and the very conspicuous use of the term, "city state," it's a different kind of earth. As of the previews we've gotten in game, Hex Squad is based out of an abandoned mall, and they've spread out to settle in their own spaces. An improvised shooting range, arcade, electronics store, furniture store, security room, and hanging around a sitting area on the second floor. Sniper, speedster, ferrokinetic, psionic with the tongue, swordsman, and medic respectively.

Let's just say that 1999 is the latest chapter in Warframe, and saying more is really hard without spoilers, beyond that it sounds ambitious and character driven.

WF 1999 is more so a time paradox, while it's earlier in the timeline it is chronologically the latest due to time travelling shenanigans and escapades of an unspeakable horror.

You picked up quite a bit from that given you don't know the game, which shows that the expressiveness of the characters was on point.

Would definitely be cool to see a Secret Level episode for Warframe. It's such a deceptively massive setting to pull from. Who knows, maybe if it gets a second season Warframe will bag a slot.

Warframe 1999 will be a continuation of the main story, so you'll need to play about 100h to get to this point, but the journey is going to be worth it; untold amounts of content and different activities, top notch quests, banger soundtrack, unrivalled customization (builds and cosmetics), and the most fluid movement system in any game.

Since bringing you up to speed will take me a whole page I prefer to compress it as much as I can. What you need to know that Warframe 1999 takes place in an alternative past because a guy from the future traveled to the past in hopes that something bad won't follow, of course it did followed him there and now he created the partial Warframes (not full Warframes that are more like a suit that takes over your body) as another mean to stop it. The entity I am talking about is called the man in the wall and its the main evil in Warframe its like an eldritch entity that comes from a dimension called the void where time stops and almost everyone who pass through it become crazy if exposed to it directly. So 1999 is kinda a messed up past that now starts to effect the future in Warframe. The story update will take place in Holvania (a fictonal city) right before the new year between 1999-2000 known in our universe as the Y2K. The Hex are the survivalists of the experiments of that doctor from the future. They are looking for him to fix them up back to what they were before, of course none of them believe that he can cure them of what they become but still. In the clip you can feel how their mistrust for each other is starting to break them apart. Amir is too carefree Eleanor is maybe becoming and infested and may turn on them in the middle of the battle and Artur is her brother so he will be the first to try to stop them from killing her if it comes to that so as their leader he will become a liability. As you can already guess this puts them all on edge with each other and they are the ones who have to save the world? Yeah the story is pretty grim, like an edgy, darker version of the power rangers. I may suggest you read the comics that came 1-2 weeks before it may give you more of a feel of what the story in the clip is all about: www.warframe.com/media/comics/warframe1999 Also this is not for new players, you need to be at the last point of the story quest line in the game to play Warframe 1999 at launch. Warframe by itself is something that a lot of players avoid because it sounds too good to be true, but trust me its that good. I play the game since closed beta which makes me a 12 year veteran in the game. No other game made me stick for that long in my life, this game is one in a million rare gem. Just if you start playing it, find a friend or a clan to help you out, someone who know their stuff. The game is toooo vast to try doing it yourself, you are entering a franchise with the proportions of something like Star Wars or Dune knowing too little may make you loose yourself in it and then give up. A guide is essential and youtubers won't help you with that.

I'm excited but people who expect the next Evangelion from this new Gundam show will probably be disappointed since this is the director of FLCL & Diebuster. So expect more like those two titles instead of Eva.
