U.N Squadron (Arcade) Greg Gates
U.N. Squadron, released in Japan as Area 88[a], is a 1989 side-scrolling shooter video game developed and published by Capcom for arcades. It was based on the manga series of the same name, though the North American release omits all references to the manga. Their mission is to stop a terrorist group known as Project 4. It was ported to multiple platforms including the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and was followed by a spiritual successor, Carrier Air Wing.

You can tell by playing the game. It features American fighter jets. But it's developed by a Japanese gaming company. It features a variety of Japanese warships, fighter jets, and bombers. The 45-minute game is about American fighters not fighting alone, but showing off their awesome Japanese navy. It's clever enough that the game program is trying to show off the power of the Japanese navy.
