Stop judging the guys for throwing hits with helmets in. It’s a natural instinct due to the rush of anger mixed with adrenaline. You can tell they don’t purposely do it bc when they realize what they’re doing, the start going for the opening, trying to take the helmets off, or just straight wrestling/hitting body shots. The whole mission of the game is to possess the ball and get it into the endzone for a touchdown....the reason for the size variation is due to the physicality that their position requires...the bigger massive dudes are linemen...they line up face to face, the offensive linemen are the force trying to get through the defensive linemen in front of them to get to the quarterback before he gets rid of the ball so that they lose yardage when the ball is spotted where the QB gets 'sacked' i.e. tackled while still possessing the ball or to get to the running backs or receivers (that the QB will throw to or hand off to ) to stop them gaining yardage down field and scoring . The receivers and 'backs" are usually not as thick and powerful as the linemen need to be, these guys that are catching and running the ball are not linemen, they are "backs" and there are many types based on their position and purpose, they need to be fast ,agile and VERY ATHLETIC. They are the ones that will always catch passes to score or run the ball to score. This is not shocking to us in North America (Canada included) because it's the nature of the game and the excitement level to be captivated by.

In US football, players will block or tackle opponents when they are too near their dude with the ball, the main difference in our game is there are tackles to protect and keep the opposition from tackling the runner or sacking the quarterback to gain possession ...which is the 3 on 1 you saw, and that's legal. However, the facemask that took the quarterback out looking like he was clotheslined, is a big no no.

When I was in high school during practice our coach would randomly drop the football whoever recovered didn't have to do conditioning drills after practice. Fights for the ball got pretty savage.
