It's *WAY* easier to convince someone to run up a credit card than to pay one off. Most people aren't putting in the time, research, or effort to make credit rewards worth it, and also aren't responsible enough. So it's better to tell everyone to not use credit cards, than to allow half the population to get into massive debt that the other half of the population will indirectly pay for via taxes, and inflation.

I don’t think there’s an ignorance tax that represents a credit score. You can have wonderful credit but be very bad at spending. You can owe $8000 and still have a 720 score but never miss a payment
