USCIS is terrible. My wife came on a fiance visa. We got married. We applied for a green card and she got a 10 year version but we did not know that she was supposed to get a temporary one first. When we went for citizenship they noticed the mistake and blocked her application. It was a huge ordeal and completely their fault. Eventually we got her citizenship after more money and tons of paperwork.
