I'm not sure if you need to route things, but I think that on the mixer track that serato is linked you can just add edison and then press record on it, it records the audio and then you can drag the audio out of it.

using the FPC works

The mpd is only a controller which doesn’t come with software so you’d record yourself into yur daw and drop the sample in your sample of choice (serato sampler in this case) and use the mpd as a controller to create yur chops
