Refining Beeswax
Hello all,
I decided to refine my beeswax from this season. Nothing too exciting, and I know it's not metal. I've been pretty busy in my normal life lately, but I am hoping to do more metal casting soon. I have a 5 gallon bucket of brass and a small pile of copper to do coming up. Thanks for watching.

Copper Wire Meltdown

Today I decided to melt down some copper wire into an ingot with the devilforge. I think it turned out fairly well.
Aluminum Slag Meltdown
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.2 года назад
I decided to melt down some old aluminum slag from my first videos. There was a bit of old brass stuck in the bottom of the crucible, technically making this a mixed slag meltdown. I ended up with one nice little ingot just short of a pound I will use for something else one day. Thank you for watching.
From Electrical Wire to Ingot

I decided to melt down some of the wire I had stripped previously and cast it into an ingot using the devil forge. I will be melting more copper in the future and making bigger ingots. I hope you enjoy. Thanks for watching.
Casting Fishing Sinkers From Scrap Lead
Просмотров 6452 года назад
I decided to make some new sinkers from scrap lead. It doesn't take much heat to melt lead so there was no need for the old Devil Forge this week. I ended up with a little over 4.5 pounds of 3, 4, and 5 ounce sinkers for catfishing. Thanks for watching.
Casting Ammo Brass into Ingots

I decided to cast a few more bars of ammo brass. I ended up with three shiny brass bars with a total weight of over 6 pounds. If you would like me to continue with this format let me know in the comments. If you would rather I put in subtitles let me know. Thanks for watching.
Comparing the Stripmeister Wire Stripper to the Vevor Automatic Wire Stipper
Просмотров 10 тыс.2 года назад
I bought a pair of wire strippers on eBay to make scrapping a bit easier. I bought one first and was disappointed, so I bought the other. Guess in the comments which one I purchased first. It seemed like it would be easier to talk my way through this comparison. I will probably do a voice over on my next ingot video. Let me know in the comments if you would rather have voice overs or text in th...
Is it worth it to strip wire for scrapping? Let's find out.
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.2 года назад
I bought a wire stripper to help me create clean copper for melting. I was just curious if the scrap value of stripped wire would justify the effort involved, or if the difference was factored into the insulated wire price. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe.
Casting a New Sand Hammer Out of Aluminum
Просмотров 7092 года назад
I decided I should cast a proper sand hammer. This is only about the third item I have cast. I made the form from a piece of dowel rod and some 2x4 cut down. I lost some of the footage I shot for this. I think it turned out well, despite the excessive flashing and my angle grinder failing. Thank you for watching.

Turning a Screen Door into Coins and an Ingot
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.2 года назад
Today I decided to melt down an old screen door I found laying around. I wanted to test the new coin molds. It didn’t turn out as well as I would have liked, but I kinda like it. I will try again with copper and see how they turn out.
Turning a TV Antenna into Ingots and Coins
Просмотров 9 тыс.2 года назад
I had this old tv antenna that wasn’t in great shape. I decided to melt it down and make some ingots and coins. There was surprisingly little waste on this project. There were a few plastic braces and six steel bolts. Thanks for watching.
Casting Copper Deer Head Coins and an Ingot
Просмотров 6 тыс.2 года назад
I melted down a bit of copper plumbing that is too large to be useful to me in any other way. I made a few coins for my friends’ kids. The ingot will be repaired one day when I have enough for my projects I would like to do.
Melting dirty lead pipe into ingots
Просмотров 19 тыс.2 года назад
One of my friends dropped some lead pipe off that he had dug up with a backhoe while installing new waterlines. It was very dirty so I cleaned it up and poured it into ingots that I will later cast into sinkers for fishing.
My First Attempt At Pouring Lead Shot For Easier Handling
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.3 года назад
I decided to try to pour some lead shot in water. I have ingots of lead, but need more manageable quantities for easier handling when pouring fishing sinkers. I fired up the Devil's Forge and had it melted in no time. Lead has a very low melting point. My end product was a bit disappointing, but still fulfills my needs. I hope you enjoy.

I realize this is over a year old, and you’ve most likely learned some more techniques on how to run it more efficiently. Maybe this is one of them, and maybe others can learn this too: one thing right off the bat that speeds things up, is to do a bunch of one thing then go to the next stage. So running all the wire that is the same gauge, THEN go back and strip all of it from the insulation, as opposed to stripping each one immediately after running it through. Another one is to have the steel feeder hole (infeed) LOWER than the feeding wheel, at least slightly lower than where you place the blade height at. Yet another, is to use a foot-actuated on/off switch for the electric stripper. If you have a corded drill, do the same with that, and just have a wedge to keep the trigger pressed. Thanks for sharing

I bought an Electric Wire Stripper. It doesn't do a good job on thick cable ( around what seems 3/8) there is a thin clear coating of plastic over the thick plastic. I've had to send it through up to 4x. So I decided to use a utility knife cutting the clear plastic off. I've noticed that I can just do it by hand. Mind you these are 14-18 inch strips. Old plastic covered wire from Older BX used thick plastic so again I carved them with the utility knife. In short- The electric wire stripper is good on household romex. It's up to the individual if they want to send cable 4X through the machine. Bottom line- I got 160 #s of Bare Bright Solid wire times $3.20 a # here in Upstate New York- about $460. " Ca- Ching"! The EWS paid for itself! It's so simple a child 1 year and 7 months old can feed the wire through!! Thanx

I suspect you have the Vevro wire guide rotated 180° wrong way. You want wire guide as close as possible to cutting wheel.

  • @Zappy1210
    @Zappy1210 9 месяцев назад

The Vervor isn't really designed for romex. It's meant more so for single strand wires up to I believe 1/0. I have the Verror electric .06 to 1.5 inch wire (14 ga to 750 MCM) stripping capability. Has 11 wire slots including romex slot with 10 cutting blades. Have never had a single issue stripping any type of wire big or small.

slow your cordless drill down a bit, it will help significantly in getting your guides set up properly. Note how fast the Vevor one pulls wire through, thats an indicator of a good working speed. Once you have all your guides and blade pressure set up you can go back to full speed if you want.

Another nice melt. As for I am meltin my slag with other unprocessed dust from finishing my cast, aluminum chipping from cutting off sprues etc, and also other stuff from brass/copper/other alloys. So actually we can say I make mixxed slag/dust mixture which I use for less needed casts - just to save the fuel.

I ruined a crucible doing so. It oxidized and solidified in the bottom half. Could not get it hot enough to get it out. Tried heating and cooling it, nada. Ended up breaking while trying to pick it out, so I ended up chiseling the crucible off of it. The chunk left over makes for an interesting conversation piece.

@@echonovember636 that's interesting! I just did a melt of 4lbs of pull tabs that I'll post soon. I melted the dross at the end of the video and recovered a little bit more good aluminum. I have no issue with it sticking to the crucible.
