What is De Campo 123 and how does it work?

Maestro Paolo Pagaling, in this video, explained the workings of De Campo and highlighted three key aspects: 1. Baiting or Luring: De Campo employs a strategic approach of appearing unaware of vulnerable body parts, enticing opponents into attacking those areas, which are actually bait. 2. Striking and Counter Striking: Once the opponent takes the bait, De Campo practitioners execute proper cou...
Why De Campo?

Simple and Direct and Lots of Repetitions. De Campo 1-2-3 Original has been tried and tested in numerous Juego Todo matches before the 1950s of which the founder Grandmaster Jose Diaz Caballero emerged victorious in all of his fights. Besides this known fact, De Campo can also be applied in many self-defense situations with the use of any weapons of opportunity. The rigorous training curriculum...

De Campo Striking
Просмотров 8 тыс.6 лет назад
The whole De Campo curriculum is composed of 78 techniques each repeated 7 times (totaling 546). These are mostly combinations ranging from 1 to 10 strikes and done in one session. In this video, Master Jomalin demonstrates how these "meteoric" strikes are done (listen to the rhythm of the stick). If you want to learn De Campo or just want to see the fundamentals, please check out decampo123.or...
Great explanations.

Great videos, sir. May I ask, what is the purpose of the arm slap? Also, what is the idea behing the stomping footwork? With respect 🙏🏻
The arm slap or pikpik as we call it serves several purposes. I will only enumerate three. 1. Acceleration 2. Rhythm 3. Strike Reversal The stomping footwork are microsteps to make it easier to move around the opponent and create space accordingly. Not used in Largo.
👍👍👍 thank you
Maestro Paolo Pagaling is the best and has always taken the time to provide further instruction on techniques I’m learning.
I have no idea what De Campo 123 is. Great explanation.
Very quick footwork, beautifully done!!!
This is so informative and useful, thank you so much for sharing this! Maestro Paolo Pagaling, you are a true treasure to the Martial Arts World!
Salamat. Pugay!
Interesting. Paspas has some similarity/variation to kinaballo footwork of serrada escrima - a rapid stomping succession of small steps in contrast to the wider, more common triangle footwork. I argued it is tiring when used extendedly and the strike has no weight because you are not rooted. The power is divided between the strike and the moving footwork.
Thank you for you comment sir. To be fair, the strikes whilst using paspas and sagadsad do have weight, because there is always one foot connected to the ground. On top of that, paspas is very rooted in our very basic body weight shifting, which people learn when they start their journey in De Campo. 🙏
@@decampo123_nl Although I am not familiar with the footwork, I agree the body mechanics harmonize and naturally align to deliver a power strike, with a momentary pause to have the foot/feet rooted. But I guess at the beginning of lessons, timing and coordinating the strike and footwork may be awkward. Pugay! 🙏
Beautiful Maestro!!!
Great videos, sir. May I ask, what is the purpose of the arm slap? Also, what is the idea behing the stomping footwork? With respect 🙏🏻
Awesome
Great explanation. Glad to see you uploading on this channel again
Great explaining!!! Maestro Paolo always spot on!
One of my favorite videos. Glad to have you as my teacher 🙏
Beautiful video Maestro Paolo!!! Sharing this!!!
Thank you for posting and sharing amazing art
I've been looking at the different De Campo videos and also looking at the Online School. It seems to be focused on a lot of repetitions and combinations/permutations of different striking patterns. So far so good. So my question is, what are the strategies you try to implement in fighting that makes De Campo unique? Half beats and attacking the arm are common for all FMA.
A lot of baiting and counters, barages of strikes aswell. They posted a video on the same channel a few months ago that goes into more details about De Campo. You can also check the vidéo Fast Strikes Recovery on the Eskrima Academy channel for further info on the use of the bounce for striking.
Nice flow with solid strikes, Great job!
I have enjoyed this video. I am into De Campo since 10+ years. I can relate to everything told here
The only thing I don't get is why is he hitting himself. That's not a joke. For about every strike to the bag he hits either his arm or the side of his body with the empty hand, or am I just seeing things?
He does hit his arm almost every strike. I dont know about this particular style, but in the style I teach, we do it for multiple reason: > so we dont overextend our arm when striking. Its difficult to explain in text, but when performed, you can easily see what Im talking about. > to prime the open hand and/or the next attack. Again, very difficult to describe in text 😅 > finally, its tactile/feeling exercise. Simply put, its a way to get used to getting touched in multiple ways. Hope this help.
@@wilagaton9627Yeah, it does help. So it's like a signal that says don't overexert or apply tension at this point. If that's what it is then yeah, I dug it.
Jeep It Simple Stupid!!!
Very nice...
Thank you for sharing !!
Subtitles would've helped...
Tanong k lang po,sir may empty hand applications po ba Ang De Campo 123 original?

3:01 the instructor is talking about Edgar Sulite. Is the GM saying good or bad thinks about Edgar Sulite? If it wasn't for LAMECO ESKRIMA; I wouldn't have developed a passion for FMA.
The late GM Salvador Caballero was only telling stories about PG Edgar. We wouldn't thank in the description the Lameco guys like Sir Marc Denny and Dino Florence if this interview involves badmouthing PG Edgar. Keep on training sir.

Hundreds of thumb-up clicks and ‘likes’ plus supportive commentaries from underlings are enough to make a mountain out of a mole. So much misinformation is zealously propagated that it’s almost impossible to separate the wheat from the chaff without conscious effort from the concerned people. Many FMAers and non-FMAers alike, are more interested in getting involved in the illusion of grandeur and myth rather than be a part or a witness of the truth. In lieu of this of becoming the norm, a person comes to FMA like a breath of fresh air. Her name is Peachie Baron Saguin. The Silent Warrior Peachie Baron Saguin started early on her martial arts path. Typical of any young Filipino, she was practicing foreign martial arts. Until she met one of the founders of Bakbakan International. Bakbakan International was a center of martial arts training, with founding members coming from diverse martial arts disciplines. Bakbakan was the first to embrace the concept of mixed martial arts in the Philippines. Smart in the ways of martial arts, Bakbakan adopted the Ilustrisimo system of Filipino swordsmanship for its weapons training n 1993, Peachie was nominated by her senior brother (in Bakbakan International) Juan Miguel Zubiri to take the test required for the promotion to Black Belt. She passed the test. She was the first woman to hold the rank of Black Belt in Bakbakan. Her mentors are Grand Master Christopher Ricketts and Grand Master Antonio Diego. (added comment- Lance doubting this in a youtube comment the video about Tatang where peachie was interviewed, the RUclips channel of that Finland Guy and Filipina wife Ruby Harell) (end of comment) ***** (resume Original article) "In 2005, she reached out to different FMA masters and with their cooperation, she was able to organize the first international FMA tournament hosted by Master Rey Galang of Bakbakan International, New Jersey. The event was participated by numerous FMA groups from Metro Manila and different parts of the country. Foreign players who were mostly students of Bakbakan worldwide also participated. In 2006, she became the Secretary General and the contact person of the first National Filipino Martial Arts Association, and was part of organizing the first NFMA festival held at the Clam Shell Intramuros, Manila As the contact person of NFMA, she was held in high esteem by different FMA teachers, instructors and masters, as she referred foreign students to train with different masters according to their preference of style. In 2007, she organized mall tours that showcased various FMA systems and styles. This was participated by well-known FMA masters such as Bobby Tabimina of Balintawak, Rommel Tortal of Pekiti Tirsia, Jerson Tortal of Dekiti Tirsia, Samuel Dulay of MATTI, Engr. Dion Diaz of PIGSSAI, Rey Dominguez of PNP, Fil Buena of Buena Mano, Vic Sanchez of Kali Arnis International, Bert Labaniego of Lightning Scientific Arnis, Vhir Tubera of RTU and Inocencio Glaraga of Kalaki School of Kali, to name a few. " (added comment - ask those witnesses on FB they have accounts) end of comment **** (Resume article) "In the same year, she organized campus tours to encourage the young students to train in the Filipino Martial Arts instead of foreign martial arts. She hosted FMA gatherings at her home creating a place of venue and opportunity for students as well as masters to meet up and forge firmer bond between masters and students.. In 2008, Steven Dowd of FMA Digest recognized her as Woman of the Year, because of her contribution in the promotion of FMA. FMA digest is an online magazine dedicated in the propagation and disseminating information about Filipino Martial Arts and Culture of the Philippines. In 2009, she was again given a recognition and awarded as Master of the Pen by FMA Digest for her written articles about FMA. (end of comment) ***** (resume Original article) "In 2011, she included FMA in her several TV programs at UNTV to create further awareness in the Filipino Fighting arts. Her TV Shows provided media coverage to different FMA events which are often ignored and generally taken for granted by popular media. In 2014, she produced a program titled, Rise N Shine, a daily morning TV show which included a segment "Filipino Fighting Art" where she featured different FMA styles, in her quest to give FMA, the much needed media exposure. In 2015, her show was given recognition by the Philippine Martial Arts Hall of Fame as the only program and only network that promotes the Filipino Fighting Art. To date, she has written two books, Punta y Daga of Kalis Ilustrisimo I and II, under the guidance of her Teacher Master Tony Diego, with the aim of creating a structure that will speed up the learning process of students who wish to take a journey in the Ilustrisimo system. The proof is in the doing. Some people may have elaborately articulated, written, posted, and published entertaining stuff about FMA, often resulting in instant fame and recognition, but none was able to match the actual deeds and real achievements of Peachie in promoting and supporting Filipino Martial Arts in general and Filipino Martial Arts Masters in particular. She silently kills them all. The journey continues... I gave it a like, just because I didn't understand a word he said. Fuck english.
Excellent sir.
And what if against GM Yuli Romo's system?
It will always depend on the skill level of the student but assuming he/she studies a legit system. But assuming the skill levels are the same, both fighters will have to go past the largo range of which De Campo is known for.
Then, it would be great to see a GM to GM fight. Or just a fight b/n instructors. Since the variable between students is too big and all.
It would be great but if you know what's happening in the FMA world you would probably conclude that it is very difficult to at least get two teachers spar and so how much more difficult if it's a fight for reputation, let's not even go for a deathmatch. Those days are over, today is all about fancy movements and commercialization. We at De Campo are doing our best to preserve the original art and commercialization is unavoidable but we always try to keep things fair.
These fighting styles are not for competition. We are talking about weapons here. Testing systems against systems will only lead to "fuego todo"s, where injuries and death will be unavoidable. Result would worsen the rivalry between systems, will not help Filipino Martial Arts at all.
@@DeCampo123 how do you know if a system is legit?
wow... pugay po!
