Agreed, I just realized that Mario updated his favorite way to tackle ED and it's crazy! Although what he previously talked about was pretty decent, it was difficult to follow, I just go'ogled the latest by Mario Volpstein, it's so much simpler and potent now!

Thank you for sharing this detailed video.
Good one. Thank you
Is it really a myth or fact that lunar movements affect one's sanity?? Please do clarify. Some people in India believe a full moon causes a psychotic or a manic episode i.e. makes a person LUNATIC. Out of 1.5 billion people in India, even if we could only make half the population(~700 million people) psychoeducated it would make a WORLD of difference for the field of psychiatry.
The moon influences gravity on earth, but there is no evidence it directly has any influence on thoughts, as far as I know.
My elderly father died of lithium toxicity whoch was not diagnosed in time, after 30 years on lithium...i blame his gp and paychiatrist who did not check
It should have been possible to check the lithium levels.
Dr Heun , i have a request. Could you please make a video explaining in detail the effects of cigarette smoking and substance use on psychotropic medicines esp. on antipsychotics?
If you continue promoting our channel I will work on it. It should be doable. I try my best. As you might be aware it is not the video recording it is the preparation and research that takes time. KR Reiner
@@globalpsychiatryarchives8252Thankyou Dr Reiner I'll do what I can.
Dr Heun, I been on lithium for about 25 years and am on 1200mg. When i have taken my lithium it makes me feel like am drunk should that happen
No, please see your GP.
Dr, can one actually recover from ocd and lead a normal, happy life ?
Not easy but possible with medication and psychotherapy.
Is lithium also prescribed in hypomania and esp. cyclothymia?? Or is it only best to be used only for full manic bipolar 1 disorder ???
It is very often prescribed in bipolar 1 and two, and also in cylothymia, however I would not recommend it for the latter unless there is a very good benefit and risk assessment. We cannot advise on individual cases.
Dr Heun, can long term(of 10 years) lithium use cause Parkinson's disease?? Or can lithium toxicity cause Parkinson's disease ??
Lithium is only rarely associated with parkinson, a lithium tremor is more likely.
Dr is repetitive body damaging like skin picking a form of OCD??
I would say it could be part of OCD if the other symptoms, anxiety, rumination etc are part of the presentation.
Dr Vipul, what's the second major difference between schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder ( the mood disorder present in schizoaffective disorder being the first major difference between the two)??? And I'm very curious to know if there is an ACTIVE STAGE & PRODROMAL STAGE in schizoaffective disorder as well just like in schizophrenia???? Thank you in advance for your reply for which I'm "anxiously" & eagerly waiting.
Most mental disorders have prodromal symptoms when the full diagnosis cannot yet be met. SA disorder has less negative symptoms, episodes of pure affective symptoms, and usually a better outcome please check ICD 11 for criteria.
@@globalpsychiatryarchives8252 so there is an ACTIVE/ACUTE STAGE in schizoaffective disorder just like in schizophrenia??? Are the stages of schizoaffective disorder the same as that of schizophrenia?? I'm sorry but ICD 11 doesn't clarify this. And for laypersons like me i.e. not a medico, icd 11 is a bit confusing.
Dr Vipul, what are the possible withdrawal symptoms if a person abruptly stops taking their medicines (lamotrigine 100mg & duloxetine 40mg) which they have been taking for a very long time (10years) ????
Everything is possible in medicine but with such low doses a severe withdrawal symptom is unlikely.
Can abruptly stopping psychotropic medicines like lamotrigine 100mg & duloxetine 40mg after taking it for a very long time(10 years) cause delirium??
Very unlikely. A relapse of the previous symptoms is much more likely.
@@globalpsychiatryarchives8252okay! Thanks for clarifying!
What happens when someone goes of them abruptly after injection and has absconded from mental hospital after 3 day of injection. Was involuntary hasn’t been found yet . Please a reply would be greatly appreciated
It depends if they worked and what injection was given, usually there will be some medication in the system and a relapse may follow a few months later.
@@globalpsychiatryarchives8252 thank you so much for your reply. My son returned to hospital of his own accord after a week . He is an involuntary patient, however today he was due to have the depo which had been changed and he straight out refused to have I spoke to him and he was very angry and agitated. He is still very delusional and I’ve not really seen a change in over the month he’s been there . I can’t get through to him , he now thinks the hospital is also involved in his delusions. I’m at my wits end as I’m in a different state and unable to see him at the moment. He’s finally agreed he would have to depo tomorrow but I’m doubtful he will. He’s been diagnosed with schizoaffective ( major depression) he’s also been smoking marijuana for at least 20 year . I and the doctors think this is what’s caused his mental health problems that Have escalated over the last 5 years. So for the long rant but my question is how long do the meds take to work and also could it just be withdrawal from drugs ? Thank you so much in advance 🙏
Good job on mental health issues 😊
Anxiety disorders are a group of mental health conditions characterized by excessive fear, worry, or anxiety that is difficult to control and impacts daily functioning. Common types of anxiety disorders include generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias. Symptoms can range from physical manifestations such as a rapid heartbeat, sweating, and trembling, to psychological symptoms like restlessness, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. Treatment often involves a combination of therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), medication, and lifestyle changes. Early diagnosis and intervention can significantly improve outcomes.
You are very welcome to present your expertise on our channel. Kind regards Reiner
I wish my doctor had taken me off it years ago when I developed a rash. It would have saved me a lot of trouble. For some reason, they decided the rash was benign, which it was. However, the drug itself has not been benign for me and I've been stuck on it much longer than I wanted to be because it's very difficult to get off. Hopefully, I'll finish my taper in the next 1 1/2 - 2 years.
Sadly every person respond differently to medications. Hope you get well soon Reiner
Why is it difficult to get off?? Have you ever stopped taking it abruptly?? What withdrawal symptoms you experienced???
@Kriti2024 I started tapering it 6 years ago and even though I tapered much more slowly than the two weeks recommended in the guidelines, I experienced severe withdrawal. Some of my symptoms included heart palpitations, burning hands and feet, body temperature dysregulation, severe brain fog, intense anxiety, insomnia, extreme irritability, and more. I put my taper on hold to stabilize and focus on getting off another drug. I held my dose at 27.5mg during that time and have recently tapered to 25mg. I have tolerated the 9% cut ok but may reduce by a smaller percentage next time. Best case scenario, it will probably take me 18 months to get off this very low dose. If you're interested in learning how to taper safely, check out the new book Maudsley Deprescribing Guidelines as well as resources like Inner Compass Initiative.
@Kriti2024 I typed a long reply to this but it seems to have disappeared...

I am analyzing your youtube channel. You have uploaded 263 public videos within 1+ year, you really deserve praise. You are making great videos but you are not getting those viewers according to your videos. As an SEO expert, I understand your videos are not exactly SEO Basically, by not doing SEO, your video doesn't reach a global audience, Due to which the video does not get views, likes, comments and channel subscribers. Hahaha, someone has been feeding this dude. 😂 edit: I live in Liverpool and there are a pair of lesser black back gulls that are nesting on a chimney stack behind my house and I started feeding them, now they come back every year and sit on my back wall waiting for chicken legs and wings lol.

Hey, you said you were in Scotland treating a Scottish patient do you have a Scottish background? I am wondering because me and my roommate fight all the time my parents had a genealogy trace back and my last name CATTO ends in Scotland somewhere, so apparently I have some Scottish in me so Why are you treating a patient in Scotland? And do you have a Scottish background? I would appreciate you elaborating on that thank you very much.
DEAR MICHAEL I am German, living in Scotland. Not sure about names. Sorry Reiner
Why are you questioning him so aggressively as if the doctor has no right to evaluate a Scottish patient? Unless I misread your post? But you sounded a tad accusative. Did you have a concern that he’s diagnosing someone Scottish? Why would that worry you? He’s given wonderful info & advice to any patient irrespective of nationality…
Thanks Prof
