Hi. I just got one of these machines today! It's seized atm but I'm hoping that I'll be able to get it working. It's got all of the Jack's and most of the needles. Can you advise where would be a good place to source needles and a manual please?
This machine has 50 metal needles. It knits DK or 3 weight acrylic yarn beautifully. You can do manual patterning by pulling out the needles to D position or holding position, follow the charts that come with it and change color according to the chart. By using Google Lens I was able to follow the I instructions to make the scarf with pom-poms, the little pink purse and the blue and white pillow. The brand of yarns I used were Bernat Softee Baby and Mary Maxim Mellowspun. It works just like a real knitting machine, the stitches are excellent. This machine has 2 yarn feeders for multicolor work.

Not made any more. Only way is to buy a second donor machine.

Beautiful! Have you explored with different size cords and string? I'm wondering if Ican refill my spools with 0.8mm nylon cord.. thanks!
Technically you can refill spools with whatever you want. Some cords/strings braid better than others. Soft cords braid neater than stiff ones.
@@nixknits6644 does it still create a nice uniform cord? I'm just hoping it gives a neat a result since my strong is thinner than what comes with it.

What a great video and what an interesting little machine! Is the punch card mechanism strictly decorative? No patterning?
Yes! It sucked me in good :D I totally thought it was going to be a pattern device. It just moves a printed card along.
@@nixknits6644 I think it's a chart holder that moves the chart along. Since there is only one yarn feeder, it must be capable to skipping stitches. You would knit the colors for the background and then the foreground by using slip and changing the colors. Probalby works pretty well if you're a careful counter. For a Japanese child, this probably makes the machine look a lot more like Mommy's, plus it does help you keep your line.

Have you tried like drive lace and pile knitting on the prior knitting machine
This is quite intriguing I haven’t made a successful sock yet on my machine. Is there somewhere I can find written directions for using this technique and the pattern for the sock? Is this technique used on both toe up and cuff down? It seems to be a sock that is knit circular. Thanks for this demonstration.

Is there any information on these knitting machines and can you knit with two colours together and can you get needles plus patterns thankyou
You can knit two colour patterns, but not simultaneously. There is a very awkward arrangement of a nylon panel that slots in the underside of the carriage that is the yarn carrier. It has to be changed over every row or two to do any kind of colour work or stripes. This machine is best for single colour work.

HI, this is great! How do you cast off/bind off the garment? Is there more than one caston, more of a finished, permanent cast on?
I prefer to start and end with waste yarn and cast off by hand with knitting needles.

@@knit1924 You could, but it would be tricky. Have a look at the video where I fix a stitch. You'd have to stabilise the needles and remove the bed the same way. I'd probably e wrap over waste yarn and ravel cord,as the needles without knitting on them flip out easily

Did you make a mistake when you said “no patterning, but these are great little machines”? I have to assume it was a mistake considering you were showing us how it has a card reader.
It's just a pretend punchcard, those aren't holes but red and blue pattern guides.
What a really interesting machine. I have a couple of those double ended needles which I use to pick up dropped stitches on with a knitting machine of hand knitting.
