How can you not love Queen? Freddie was a true talent. Sing with the angels darling. After 45 years I still love you. Probably the only band who's members each wrote a top 10 song. I can't listen to Mother Love without crying. So glad I used to steal my parents Queen LPs when I was a kid.

Bad work

There aren't many bands that authentically covered so many song era and styles as Queen did. Their scope for trying new songs and doing them so brilliantly is truly outstanding. Like all bands they did a few poopers but hardly any really. Every album was covering new ground and sounded unique and unlike the others. Most bands write a lot of crap or average stuff and survive on a few good songs but that simply isn't the case for bands like Queen. We will never see this again, simply because it's unlikely you will get a band with all members actively writing material and of course the way music is consumed today which means albums are dying out and single rule the day. It may be a very long time until we return to the album being a thought out body of work with all songs written to go together sadly.

I just don't get the obsession with putting Mary in the context of Love of my Life. There's not a shred of evidence that Freddie wrote this song for Mary, he even explicitly said it wasn't written for a specific person... Plus, it supports the romanticization of their relationship, which may have been super close, but almost certainly wasn't romantic. Freddie was gay, as the testimony of those closest to him convincingly attests.

I'm Japanese old man 65 years old. I lisened to Queen at real time. At first, they are popular only in Japan, especiall by young girls. I think that the second album is the best of them. The march of the black queen is the best song of them.

Just a small mistake... "If you can't beat them" belongs to the Jazz album, not Innuendo... but in general terms very much in agreement with the top. (Missing at some point "The Fairy feller's master stroke" and "The kiss" -one of Freddie's best vocal demonstrations-, also "Face it alone" could easily fit in).
