I spent 30 years in Mormonism before God led me out and saved me. I can confidently say having been on both sides that the only thing we have in common is terminology. But doctrinally, we hold virtually nothing in common. Mormons follow a different God. Mormons believe in a different Christ. Mormons teach a different gospel.

Part of that pattern is calling prophets when the people have gone astray, restoring covenants on earth through the prophet, revealing truth to them while calling the people to repentance and bringing forth additional scripture. This pattern has occured over and over again. There are 6 Major covenants where God followed this pattern in the Bible: Adamic, Noahic, Abrahamic, Mosaic and the New Covenant. In every single Covenant, God followed his pattern of calling a prophet, restoring additional truths (e.g. more scripture) and created a new covenant process/relationship. Where does that same pattern exist today? Where is a prophet leading God's people wherein you can engage in a covenant relationship with God today? Your greatest aim should be to humbly and honestly search until you find that pattern continued today. Where you find a Prophet who is leading the true followers of Christ. God is the same yesterday, today and forever. The pattern hasn't changed. That's His promise.

Also in your D&C section 1 says that when a prophet of the church speaks, it is though that God himself is speaking. Nowhere in your scripture or it's adjoining books or teachings does it specify that the prophet has to express these words of God in a certain way, other than being without transgression which Dallin Oaks outlined by saying, anyone in transgression is cut off from the medium which is through the Holy Ghost, provides revelation. This means, that unless any of the prophets of your church that you disagree with has committed any transgression with no proof of atonement, then you cannot deny their word, which Mormons do constantly, especially when it comes to Brigham Young. I'm prepared with words and documentation from your collection of books, and quotes from the early church members and what they said in their station, to anything that you would challenge in what I've just told you.
