No kick out flashing? Really
If you used the sds hammer drill on hammer function, it’ll remove that quick
I just read all the comments and I liked all the ones that you did wrong. You use pretty molded flashing for your pipes you left the roof wide open over night you did not use HD plates on any wall flashing and then flash the walls no termination on the block wall. You never showed what you did around the threshold of the door or the tie in to the existing roof and then what about the metal gutter and downs
I meant pre molded pipe flashing
We usually use Stihl quick cut gas saws with a demo blade on it instead of hand chopping or use the stihl firefighter rescue chainsaws 😎
Keep it down from that ridge bud you’re way to close
Awesome. Like it never happened
Nice repair.
A working fireplace is good for winter storms that knock the power out.
@@MrRedTux not if you don’t have a fireplace
HAHAHAHAAAA... Shingles... You people live in glorified sheds.. Twigs, chalk, shingles, add two landwhales and a bucket of rust on wheels and you got the American dream. Fire Dpt no longer available because Joe forgot to pay the bills. And it's windy season.
Meanwhile this guys lives under corrugated steel in moms literal shed. Shut up dude.
So they just got someone to rebuild the chimney, then they decided they weren't gonna use it anymore and take it down again? With that mindset, this winter they'll realise how nice and cozy a woodfire would be, and call a company to build them a brandnew chimney. And then next summer you'll be back because they aren't using it and want it removed
How do you make money with all this unorthodox situations? My boss never bids enough, if anything comes up we lose money.
Why bother? The chimney is is good condition, think of it as decorative.
@@RandomDudeOne need more room
Took the chimney out of our house, frankly you dont need one in Houston Tx
What I don't understand why Usians allways nail tiny beams together instead of using one solid beam??? Must be the songbird seed thing cheap cheap cheap.
This is great and all, but what happened to the end of the last series?
@@grahamkennedy7221 I was giving you a break from the 40 part series
@@AllRoof. got ya. How many work days did it end up taking to finish?
Is that ok top of the playboy mansion by any chance it’s seems to be dragging on 😄
I would have done it much less poignantly geh, guy, yah
Yes its been really hot working on these RTU's last 2 weeks . But its what i do , if i can make it just a few more years i can legally retire.lol😂 That job is like a can O -worms, but id say you guys got it under control. This job will be solid when its done ✅
Does it ever rain in New York?
New York has never seen a single drop of rain
Some Home Depots have dump trailers for rent, would be ideal for roof tear offs like this one and you'd only be moving the material by hand once
@@a-carpenter9229 not a bad idea but parking was an ordeal every day so no place for a trailer
why not use a roof cutter or at least a quick cut....
Did you check that roof for asbestos 🤔🤔
How many inches thick was that old roof 3/4/5 " inches ? No wonder why it was so heavy . You nd eric probably the first guys to actually do it the right way ! Thanks for the posts , cant wait to see the tombstone done 😮

Damn son invest in a trailer lol
😂😂 bi too men. Can’t even pronounce the products name.
Nice work! I have a 4” exhaust hole in my built up flat roof I want to fill. Do you have any recommendations on the best way to fill it?
Are you seeing new plywood delaminate or old?
Wondering if you're going to do the whole roof if not this is probably the straightest part of the whole roof.
Why would you use 4 inch copper. $400 per 12 foot length.
Did u weld a d ring on those vice grips or did you buy them like that
Custom made 150 each
Music is pretty loud, but good video thanks!
That old growth lumber with tight grain is more rot resistant and resistant to insects than what you can typically get today. The older the tree the better. I’ve seen new cypress siding rot in less than ten years.
Mo weight mo work. I feel for you guys.
Do you have to replace all the cornice or just that bad section?
Holy moly batman , thats not just a reroof! Very through job . Great acoustical insulation, gonna last another hundred years ...
Finally someone else that chalks the beam on the sheathing. I can’t nail a straight line to save my life and judging by the holes in my attic I’d say many builders can’t either
This is so suspenseful
Ewww dookie steam pipe wash ya hands chop chop
Wow ,yes it's coming out very nice . That 6" over cut will be a god send when the front goes on
Those Freud routers are beasts. Been following the series. Looks great.
Just watched all the shorts of this job! Looking good so far hopefully you guys are charging time and materials lol. Too bad the metal roofing underneath wasnt copper would have been a good turn around. Whats the average roofers wage in your areas??
Yes the old router's are great , got some old ones that just keep going . Like 50 plus years . This project is coming out fine . Wonder what kind of roof finishes will be going on ?🤔 And will you show the coffin all finished as well ? Great channel , Eric as well . Hes a great side kick to have with you . He's lucky 🍀 as was i to have great older brothers
after going to a very old town and looking at the original metal roofs on over 100 year old houses why did we get away from metal as being our primary roofing material? I am assuming it was part war and part in due to having left over petroleum products from making fuel but anyone else know
Usually you have to put a drain or a leaf separater, if it ever gets blocked you can have lots of problems
Rockwool all day.
Uses rusty flashing, yikes
Its copper flashing
Nails for shear? I don’t think u understand the forces my dude screws are worse at resisting shear force than nails nails are worse at resisting tension and vice versa
@@slowmotionjoe6263If you look at the specs for structural screws and from IBC and IRC for structural screws you will see that the shear strength of a 16d common nail is 120 to 150 lbf (depending on the material it is nailed into), it looks like GRK's R4 screws-are 3 times stronger.
@@stephen27381 screw holds roughly 125 lbs of pressure before hear. Maybe in and out it’ll hold, lateral movement and I’ve seen many RSS bolds shear off. Even on just strong backs when doing gable and trusses.
@@iXmetalXi Using 1/4” by 3” Lag Bolts = 2900 / 242 = 12 lags Using 3/8” by 3” Lag Bolts = 2900 / 249 = 12 Lags (see example below) Using 1/2” by 3” Lag Bolts = 2900 / 320 = 9 Using 5/8” by 3” Lag Bolts = 2900 / 385 = 8 Using 3/8 * 3.125 RSS = 2900 /366 = 8 screws (see example below)
Nice
The grks he used are way stronger than any nail
Its where i was born Park slope, 4 th street
It's called a parapitch or however u spell it. And those arent called lags. 😂😂😂 My god least get the names right. I thought i was bad. I even make up my own names for stuff after 30 years of doing it
Well if you're going to be a know-it-all it's not a parapitch wall it's a "Parapet wall" The cornice is connected to the Parapet wall and the "coping sits on top of the "Parapet wall" And those fasteners are "structural screws" which have mostly replaced "lag bolts" and lag "Screws" So most guys on the job would say "lags" Not structural screws. So if you're going to be a jerk at least know what you're talking about. Because there's no such thing as a "parapitch wall" it is "Parapet wall" Stay douchey my friend
@@stephen2738Got'eem! 😂😂😂
Omg true. I also wonder if we get more strength with 5” lags vs 3” lags at what point does the length not really matter anymore but it comes down to the diameter of the shaft
@@AllRoof. Keep up the great work man
Thanks good points on your side btw chop chop
I don’t see how it is draining any differently.
