I flew these Connie’s and lived to tell about it!! C-121J out of PAX River in VXN-8 and the EC-121M ELINT/RECON in VQ-2 based in Rota, Spain.A Tip tank version could stay airborne 24 hours. Lost 12 engines in a little over a year. Got down to two engines twice.I also had the “ privilege”of flying XEAL L-1049H cargo out of Corrosion Corner @ MIA. My last and FINAL Connie flight, a MIA trip , we limped back into MIA with two shutdown and two running in the red. That plane never flew again and sat at the MIA airport fire department for over 20 years.

London to Singapore by BOAC as a 8 - 9 years old in the 1960s. Fully signed up member of the BOAC Junior Jet Club with log book. The chinese stewardesses wore cheongsams and exuded glamour. White tablecoth with your meals. Passengers dressed up to fly in those times. Pilots were every boys heroes and actually looked like pilots. Stopped overnight at airline hotels in Cairo, Karachi and Rangoon and resumed flying the next day. Then arriving in the evening in Singapore and that familiar mangrove smell as you took a taxi to Raffles Hotel. The contrast with todays environment is heartbreaking.
